COURSE OVERVIEWMolar endodontics often present with various challenges to the clinician. These mayinclude difficulty in isolation, access preparation, negotiation of curved/calcified canals,disinfection and obturation. Therefore, this course is designed for dental practitionerswho wish to perform molar endodontics with higher confidence and predictable clinicaloutcome. It will focus on a systematic clinical diagnostic and treatment protocol in theendodontic management of molar teeth with minimal to moderate difficulty.The first part of the course includes three days of lectures, demonstrations and hands-onworkshops on extracted teeth highlighting the benefits of illumination/magnification usingoperating microscopes, ultrasonics, advanced rotary canal preparation, newer irrigationdevices, thermoplasticised obturation techniques/systems and factors influencing thechoice of material and design of restorations for root-filled teeth with hands-on experiencein use of latest bulkfil material to achieve predictable coronal seal.The second part includes 4 mentoring sessions, case based learning, reflectionand discussion.Certificate of attendance with CPD points will be provided at end of the course.To be eligible for a certificate of successful completion of training in molar endodontics,participants will submit a reflective report of 1 completed case for assessment.Upon completion of the programme, the candidate should be able to: apply the fundamental knowledge of endodontics in clinical practice manage molar endodontic cases with a high degree of predictability

He is a very active practitioner of Endodontics with more than 10 years of vast experience intraining young dentists especially in rotary endodontics and retreatment cases. He received a Research IncentiveAward in 2010 and 2011 from Manipal University and Marquis Award (USA) in 2011. He has received awards inrecognition of his significant contribution and talent as a newcomer in 2011, invaluable contribution in leadingICDAS initiative in 2014, E-learning Innovation Award (Team category) in 2016 and best faculty presentation(Education Research Group) at the General Meeting of International Association of Dental Research (IADR)held in San Francisco, USA, 2017. He is a reviewer for Cariology Research, International Association of DentalResearch (IADR)/PER, 2017-2018 and nominated for the Secretary post, 2018-2019 and Vice President post,2019-2020 IADR Cariology group. He is a member of ICDAS National Benchmark Group, Malaysia. He haspublished more than 50 scientific papers in national and international peer-reviewed journals and authoredchapters in three text books. He has conducted workshops and lectured locally and internationally in manycountries such as India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Dubai, Brazil, Australia and Canada.He graduated from Manipal University, India in 2006 and specialized in Conservative Dentistry and Endodonticsfrom J.S.S Dental College and Hospital Mysore, India (2007-2010). He is presently working as a lecturer in theInternational Medical University. He was awarded the John Simpson Trophy for Teaching Excellence in 2016.He is a member of various national and international dental associations and has numerous publications inpeer reviewed journals. He has special interest in rotary endodontics, disinfection in endodontics, single visitendodontics and aesthetic restorations.Prof Seow is currently the Associate Dean for the School of Dentistry at the International Medical University,Kuala Lumpur. She obtained her BDS degree from University of Malaya, Master degree from Eastman DentalInstitute with Petronas scholarship and PhD degree from University of Malaya in a split-site research programmewith University of Manchester sponsored by a Commonwealth Medical Scholarship. Her areas of interest includefixed prosthodontics, aesthetics, direct composite restorations, adhesion and cariology. She has been awardedfor best oral presentation at the 20th Anniversary CEREC Symposium, FDI World Congress, Asian Academyof Prosthodontics Congress, Singapore IDEM, Travel Award at the 12th International Association for DentalResearch (IADR, SEA Division). She is the Founding President of Malaysian Association for Prosthodontics andcurrently the President of the Asian Academy of Prosthodontics. She was the Honorary Publication Secretary forMalaysian Dental Association for three consecutive terms (2007-2010) and had held the position of Secretaryand Council Member of the International Association for Dental Research (Malaysian Section).
