Go With the Flow!This world is constantly plagued byshortages. Have you ever noticed that?It seems everybody is alwaysrunning short of something. Younever hear anyone say, “Oh my, I havemore time than I need.! I have moremoney than I can use.! I have somany solutions, I’m having to huntproblems just to keep up!”Such words sound ridiculous in aworld ruled by scarcity and lack. Yet,the truth is, those are the kinds ofwords you and I should be saying allthe time.After all, as born-again children ofGod, we don’t belong to this pitifulworld. We’re in it, Jesus said, but we’re

not of it ( John 17:15-16). We belongto the kingdom of God—and thereare no shortages in that kingdom.It has an abundant supply of anyresource you could ever need.Many believers never tap in tothose resources because they thinkGod’s kingdom is just a religiousconcept, a theological theory. But it’snot. It’s real—and we can live in it.Actually, the word kingdom means“dominion.” God’s kingdom is whereGod has dominion. Of course, sinceGod has absolute dominion in heaven,every child of God will ultimatelyenjoy the blessings of His kingdom.But, praise God, we don’t have to waituntil we get to heaven! If we’ll giveGod dominion in our lives here andnow, we can experience “days of heavenupon the earth” (Deuteronomy 11:21).4

“But Gloria, I just don’t understandhow that’s possible. Everything inthis world around us is falling apart.There’s nothing heavenly about it!”True. That’s why Christians whodepend on this world aren’t doingvery well these days. They’re limitingthemselves to the world’s technology, abilities and answers, and they’regetting the world’s results.In other words, they’re lookingto the outside instead of looking onthe inside.As a believer, everything you willever need and everything God hasever promised is on the inside of youright now. The extra 500 a monthyou need for your family is in there.The new car you need is in there. Thehealing you need, the answers youneed, the miracles you need—all of5

them are right there in your heart.How can I be so sure? BecauseGod Himself lives in you. He cameto dwell there the moment you wereborn again—and He is the source ofall things.His Spirit is a wellspring of life,bubbling up continually within you.And unlike the wells of the world,this one never runs dry! Jesus Himselfassured us of that in John 4, where Hesaid, “Whosoever drinketh of this [natural world’s] water shall thirst again: Butwhosoever drinketh of the water that Ishall give him shall never thirst; but thewater that I shall give him shall be inhim a well of water springing up intoeverlasting life” (verses 13-14).Just think about that! Through thesupernatural spring of His Spirit, Godis continually imparting to us strength6

and power, guidance and counseling.He is providing us with a reservoirthat will keep us fully supplied, notaccording to the meager resourcesof this earth, but according to Hisriches in glory by Christ Jesus(Philippians 4:19).All we have to do is step into theHoly Spirit’s flow and we’ll haveeverything we need.The problem is, most people(Christians included) don’t knowanything about that divine flow.So they just paddle around in thenatural stream of things trying tokeep their heads above water as thecircumstances and shortages of theworld drag them under.But it’s time for us to get wise! It’stime to stop going with the flow ofthe natural, worldly things around us,7

and to start going with the flow of theSpirit instead.From the Desert to the RiverHow do you go about yieldingto that supernatural flow? First, youmust hear and obey the Word of God.You must put that Word in your heartand bring it out of your mouth, notjust once or twice, but consistently.You must follow the instructions Godgives in Proverbs 4:20-23:My son, attend to my words;consent and submit to mysayings. Let them not departfrom your sight; keep them inthe center of your heart. Forthey are life to those who findthem, healing and health toall their flesh. Keep and guardyour heart with all vigilance and8

above all that you guard, for outof it flow the springs of life (TheAmplified Bible).If you’re attending to God’s Word,when you have a problem, you won’tthink of going to the world first. You’llgo to the Word. You’ll find out whatGod has promised to do for you.Once you’ve found that promise, you’ll put it in your heart. You’llbelieve it. You’ll speak it. Then faithwill come alive inside you. Once faithcomes alive concerning that situation, the power of God will explodein your heart and you’ll start walkingin victory.Everything in the natural worldmay look just as dark as it ever did.Everyone in the world may still betelling you how impossible yoursituation is. But that won’t matter9

because you’ll know you’ve steppedout of the stream of circumstancesand into the river of God.And once God’s river starts to flowfrom within you, the whole naturalrealm has to yield to it. Bad situations,poverty, sickness and lack of any kindmust bow their knees to His supernatural supply!I’ll never forget how desperate Kenand I were when we first tapped into the supernatural flow. We were sobroke and so in debt that it seemedwe would never get out. Ken was astudent at Oral Roberts University,and the only regular income we hadwas the 100 a month he received forco-piloting Brother Roberts’ airplane.We lived in a dumpy, old housefurnished in early Goodwill. Peoplewere threatening to sue us, and we10

had a history of failing financially ateverything we tried to do.How had we gotten in that terribleshape? Just by flowing with the natural forces of this world. We hadn’t setout to mess things up. We had donethe best we could, but the defeat andlack (what the Bible calls the “curses”)of the world had overtaken us.Then one day, the Word of Godcame to me. He didn’t speak to mein an audible voice. He just quickened a scripture to my heart as I wasreading the Bible. The scripture was2 Corinthians 9:8:And God is able to make all grace(every favor and earthly blessing)come to you in abundance, sothat you may always and underall circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient11

[possessing enough to requireno aid or support and furnishedin abundance for every goodwork and charitable donation](The Amplified Bible).At that moment, there appearedto be no way Ken and I would everhave an abundance of anythingexcept needs. Yet in the face of thatimpossible-looking situation, I choseto believe God’s Word. I began to say,“God is able to make every earthlyblessing come to me in abundance!God is able!”Ken believed it too, and together webegan to tap in to the flow of the Spirit.We started talking prosperity insteadof poverty. We stopped borrowingmoney. And we started obeying thepromptings of the Holy Spirit whereour finances were concerned.12

Eleven months later, we werecompletely debt free.Financially speaking, we had beentotal failures. Yet simply because webelieved God and obeyed His Word,He was able to turn that failure around.He was able to supply us not according to the shortages of this world, butaccording to His riches in glory.The Great EqualizerSince that time, I’ve never wantedto live any other way. I love knowingthat every day as I go about my dailywork—whether it’s planting flowers,writing letters or taping a televisionprogram—there is a flow of the Spiritof God in me to empower and enableme and to provide for me.If I’ll yield to it, that flow will13

make me a much greater success thanI could ever be on my own.and itwill do the same for you.You see, the Spirit of God is thegreat equalizer. When you’re yieldingto Him, it doesn’t matter which attributes you have or which ones you lackin the natural world. It doesn’t matterif you’re a person of a high intellect ora low one. You may be dumb as can beon your own, but you’re smart whenyou’re flowing in the Spirit, becausethrough Him, you’re connected toaccurate information.In fact, even if you’re very intelligent,you are still going to be disappointedin life and live way beneath God’s bestfor you if you don’t learn to follow thevoice of the Spirit. Because no matterhow smart you are, in your own ability,you’re not as smart as God.14

“But Gloria, I don’t think Godspeaks to me like He does to you.”Yes, He does. You just haven’tbeen tuning in to Him. Jesus promised that His sheep would hear Hisvoice ( John 10:3). So believe thatpromise and begin to turn your eartoward Him by spending time eachday in the Word and in prayer.As you do that, you’ll find there’s aWord from God whenever you needit—a prompting—about anything inlife. Not only in spiritual things, butGod will enlighten you and give youanswers in every situation if you willjust learn to flow in His Spirit.That’s how Jesus operated whenHe was on earth. The Bible says,“the Holy Ghost descended.upon Him”(Luke 3:22) and from that time on,He began to have manifestations of15
