Due to Father being on Vacation there will not be a “Ask Father” or thequestion of the week.NIAGARA LIONS COMMUNITY PICNICJUNE 28- 29The Niagara Lions Club is busy preparing for this year's Niagara Lions Community Parade and Picnic which will beheld Friday, June 28, and Saturday, June 29, at Heights Park in Niagara.Activities will get underway starting Friday afternoon at 4:00pm. Food and beverages will be available, 50-50drawings will take place, and raffle prizes will be awarded throughout the evening. Registration for a two-person team beanbag tournament will begin at 4:00pm with action starting at 5:30pm. Entertainment will be provided both evenings. “MusicJar” will be featured Friday night from 7:00-11:00pm. They are a four-piece band that plays hits from songs from the 60's,70's, 80's, 90's, and today's Top 40.Saturday activities get underway at 1:00pm when the midway opens with the return of the popular Abracadabrabounce rides and games. In order to help keep parental costs down, wrist bracelets will again be sold for 10.00 for the daythat will provide children and adults with unlimited participation on the inflatables. These may include the A-Frame BounceHouse, 22 foot Double Lane Slide, Jungle Toddler Game, Arcade Jumps, and a 40 foot Obstacle Course. In addition to manybooths offering food, beverages, and other games, there will also be a corn roast.The annual parade will get underway at 2:00pm with units lining up at the corner of Scott Street and JeffersonAvenue at 1:30pm. Those with classic cars and trucks are encouraged to participate. At 3:00 pm the new Miss Niagara willbe crowned as Madisin DePas will receive her crown and sash from Kaitlyn Lundin. Madisin now becomes the forty-sixthyoung lady to be honored in a tradition that dates to 1968 when Mary Kinziger became the first Miss Niagara. Alsoparticipating will be court members Abbey Bagnieschi, Shanna Nordell, Emilee Pellegrini, Hannah Waugen.Registration for the horseshow tournament will be held at 3:00pm with play beginning at 3:30pm. Prizes will beawarded to the winners.At 4:00pm the Niagara Women’s Civic Club will announce the winners of this year’s Niagara First Lady and Mr.Niagara co ntest who will be crowned by outgoing royalty Lana Franz and Kerry Grippen.In the evening, the popular Classic Oldies’ band “The Cadillacs” will perform from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. Raffle prizedrawings will be held throughout the evening with major prizes being drawn at 9:00pm. The top prize this year are two freeairline tickets to anywhere in the continental US which have been donated by Niagara native and Milwaukee areabusinessman Jerry Kososki. The highlight of the evening will culminate again this year with the area’s most spectacularfireworks display at dusk on Saturday which will again be accompanied by the playing of patriotic music.
