New Area Basics On June 3, 2014, Qingdao West New Area was approved by theState Council as the 9th national level new area. It is located in the west coast of Jiaozhou Bay, facing eastdowntown area across the bay and is one of the three majorCitydowntown areas of Qingdao. The New Area covers all the jurisdictions of Huangdao District, withofa land area of 2,096 km2, sea area of 5,000 km2, coastline of 282km and a population of 1.8 million.QingdaoWest Coast New Area

Area planned: 65.73 km2Free Trade Port Area The first of its kind in China, the bonded port area is composed of the bonded area and abonded logistics area which integrates, transforms and upgrades the nearby port. The purposeis to construct an international shipping service center, a regional international logistics center,an international trade center of Northeast Asia, as well as an exchange and pricing center forbulk goods. A free trade port area is also expected to be established.

Featured Undergraduate Programs Delivered in EnglishSDUST has been running three English-taught undergraduate programs for international students since 2006, making itone of the earliest universities to do so in China, and since then it has cultivated hundreds of graduates.
