We have respondedand are proud to introduce a new lineof parts to fit the Medivators endoscope reprocessing units.The Medivators DSD-201 is a twinbasin endoscope reprocessor that usesalcohol, detergent and disinfectant toclean an assortment of medicalscopes. RPI is introducing the annualPreventative Maintenance Kit (RPIPart #MTK009) which contains six ofthe ¾" drain valve manifold repairkits, eight check valves for the mixingblocks, two alcohol and detergentvalve seals, two of the disinfectantpumps, ten of the air valvediaphragms, four of the peristalticpump’s tube sets, two of the basin sensor covers, two alcohol and detergentcheck valves, O-rings for the ¾" drainvalve manifold elbows, a low profilewrench, an O-ring removal tool, threeabsorbent pads and some high templubricant to help keep those O-rings inplace. After 44 years in andaround our building in Chatsworth, California, we have finally outgrown our space andare moving to a larger building about 20 minutes from here.The official timing of the move is not yet set, but it will likely take place sometime inJune. The address of our new location is: 625 Cochran Street, Simi Valley, CA 93065,and our mailing address will be PO Box 940250, Simi Valley, CA 93094. Keep an eye on our website for moreupdates!One thing that has beenreally interesting for usover the past few weekswas rummaging throughfile cabinets, shelving,and archive storage todetermine what to moveand what needs to go tothe shredder, scrap yard,or recycling. We have alot of old equipment,including an Air-ShieldsC-86 infant incubator, one of the first ever. We even have some shelves of old sterilizercarcasses like old Amsco Dynaclaves and Pelton HP’s.We found our first sales journals, which my mother kept by hand on old accounting gridpaper. Our first order was October 13, 1972 for 37.50 to Medi-Call, a local medicalequipment repair company that originally helped us learn about the healthcare equipment repair field. They are still in business and still a great customer! Our first dentalcustomer placed their order just two weeks later.We have also kept copies of our original catalogs, newsletters, PM posters, and othermarketing materials, along with trade show booth exhibits. We have a soda machinethat is at least 40 years old that still works well, and hopefully will survive the move.And boxes and boxes of part samples and our original engineering prints, hand drawn,for so many of our parts that we made before the advent of AutoCad.It will be a daunting task to move, but it has also been somewhat cleansing, and a greatexercise to rummage through this building to find all of this great stuff. TECHTALKBy Mark MicucciRPI Product DevelopmentOver the years, technicians havecome to rely on the outer color ofWilkerson Coalescing filter elements to tell them what the Micronrating for that element was.In the past, a Red colored filter element identified a Type C @ .01Microns; and a White elementmeant a Type B @ 0.5 Microns.This color-coded information madeit quite easy to identify at-a-glance.However, Wilkerson no longer identifies the micron rating for their coalescing filter elements and exhaustsilencers by the color of the anti-reentrainment barrier.All of their coalescing elements andexhaust silencers will now be manufactured with a white anti-reentrainment barrier.Technicians will now have to crossreference the Wilkerson PartNumber that is stamped onto thebase of these coalescing filter elements to know if a Type C @ .01Microns, or a Type B @ 0.5Microns is needed.Well, Red is Dead When it comes to relyingon the outer color of theWilkerson CoalescingFilter Elements to ID Typeand MicronsThe RPI parts that are affected bythis manufacture's change are:Coalescing Filter Elements:CMK024, CMK025, CMK026,CMK027, CME043, CME044,& Exhaust Silencer: CMS128.PM Kits:CMK159. If yoususpect an electrical componentsuch as a motor, pump, or fan, andyou would like to verify your suspicion, removing the component fromthe machine. Testing it with an isolated power source (variable ACtransformer) such as a Variac , willimmediately confirm or disprovewhether or not the component is theproblem. If the component workswith an independent power supplythen the problem lies within themachine and vice versa. If the component does not function independent of the machine, the componentis probably at fault. When you needto apply voltage and you want toincrease the voltage slowly andobserve the effect, there is nothingbetter than a variable transformer.Replacement Parts Industries, Inc “The Alternate Source” May 2018Door Motor Assembly(RPI Part #MIA180)Returns After RedesignBy Neil BlagmanRPI Product DevelopmentRPI's Door Motor Assembly (RPIPart #MIA180) has returned to stockafter a major redesign. Back in 2017,RPI introduced our Door MotorAssembly (RPI Part #MIA180) to fitthe new style Midmark M9/M11UltraClaves (-020 and above). TheAssembly was well received andsales were brisk. But we grew concerned by the percentage of theseassemblies that were being returnedbecause some of the Assemblieswere failing shortly after installation.A review of the part was conductedalong with a root cause analysis andthe results indicated that the drivemotor shaft installed in this assemblyneeded design changes, so we immediately got right on top of it – andredesigned it. Our newly redesignedDoor Motor Assembly is now backin stock and ready to ship. We thinkyou will pleased with the redesign.Quick Installation TipsDoor Motor Assembly(RPI Part #MIA180) When installing the Connecting Rodinto the Motor Cam, ensure that thebend in the rod is installed into thecorrect hole in the Cam – use the holemarked with a “9” for M9’s and thehole marked “11” for M11’s. Do not attempt to rotate the motorshaft by hand – the motor will automatically drive to the home position assoon as 120 VAC is applied to themotor. The mounting holes in the Door MotorBracket are intentionally cut in an ovalshape to allow for some adjustment inthe final mounting position of theMotor Assembly. There is a door opening test within thediagnostic software found on the newstyle M9/M11 (-020 and above). Thedoor opening test allows you to activate the door motor to ensure that theDoor Motor Assembly is functioningand correctly aligned.3
