APPENDIX GItem 1Authorization of Tuition for 2013-14The following RESOLUTION for the 2013-14 academic year reflects the tuition increasesrecommended by the President after his review of campus tuition proposals. The tuition and feepolicy of the Board of Governors provides a framework for the Board to use in reviewing andapproving increases in tuition and fees on an annual basis. The Chancellors and their Boards ofTrustees requested tuition rate increases consistent with the policy, as well as the Second FourYear Tuition Plan. The Tuition Plan was established by the Board of Governors at its November2010 meeting and amended at the September 2012 meeting to remove the minimum set-asiderequirement for need-based financial aid.In February 2012, the Board approved tuition rates for undergraduate resident students fortwo years (2012-13 and 2013-14). Several campuses are requesting adjustments to the 2013-14rates as shown on page two.RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TUITIONWHEREAS, G.S. 116-143 requires that the Board of Governors of the University of NorthCarolina shall fix the tuition and fees, not inconsistent with the actions of the General Assembly,at the constituent institutions of the University.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that, effective with the Fall Term, 2013 theconstituent institutions are authorized to charge and collect the following tuition rates.Page 1 of 19Approved by the Board of Governors on 2/8/13

The additionalrevenue will be used for merit-based aid and to fund the addition of a full-time academic counselor.College of BusinessMasters of Business AdministrationMasters of Science in Accounting 450 in 2013-14 450 in 2013-14ECU requests a 450 tuition increase for all students in the MBA and MSA programs. The increased revenuewould support additional staff dedicated to developing professional skills for students, strengthening tiesto industries for career placement, and providing financial aid.UNC-Chapel HillThe Kenan-Flagler School of BusinessMaster of Accounting (MAC)Master of Business Administration (MBA) 2,986 for residents and 1,215 for nonresidents in 2013-14 3,601 for residents and 631 for nonresidents in 2013-14UNC-Chapel Hill requests increases shown above for the MAC and MBA programs for 2013-14.
