January 11, 2016Dear Governors, Senators, and Friends,Like the new look? We now have an identity that is immediately and identifiably our own. You'll see a lot ofour new logo and Visual Identity at Winter Leadership Weekend. Thanks again to Anne Marie DiNardo, theCommunications & Technology Committee, and the great support we had from Kibibi Bonner and ErinGreene at the University. Please note the dates below for our major events through the end of June and even beyond and mark yourcalendars. Our next major coming together will be Winter Leadership Weekend on campus. In addition to ourcommittee meetings, we have programs for our Friday and Saturday lunches that we hope you will findmeaningful and enjoyable. There are two events planned for the weekend that I wish to highlight. The first is our Annual Alumni Recognition Awards Banquet. As a reminder, in year's past this eventincluded both the longer term service awards (e.g., Gaston, Apollonian, Founders) AND the Regional ClubAwards (e.g., Club of the Year, Best Educational event, etc.) This year we moved the Club Awards to thefall and held a great celebratory event at Malmaison and an after party at Governor Fritz Brogan's ChineseDisco. This could be the beginning of a great tradition that allows us to recognize our stellar alumnivolunteers at each one of our Board weekends. The change will also allow us to focus on our lifetime achievement awardees at the WLW banquet. As withlast year, we will invite faculty members, members of the administration (Provost Groves and his wife havealready signed up. Have you?), as well as undergraduate, Med, Law, and other graduate students. Two awardees, Michelle Mauboussin and Court Dwyer have been particularly involved with the GeorgetownScholarship Program (GSP). If you would like to sponsor a table for GSP or other students for 850, pleaseemail Caitlin March. Of course, you can also sponsor one student for 85. This is a great event for studentsto see and meet alumni who have maintained lifelong relationships with the Georgetown community and forthem to hear from alumni directly about the Georgetown experience. We are adding a few surprises thisyear, so don't miss it.Second, we have our Board Plenary session on Saturday morning. The night before is often fun and long soif you plan on going late into the evening, may I suggest bringing a change of clothes and Red Bull? We areinvolved with so many projects and the Plenary meeting is a great opportunity to learn about the breadth ofall we are doing. Finally, I would like to thank Anne Marie DiNardo and the Communications Committee for their work onputting this great piece together for all of our benefit. And I know that Committee Chairs sent ininformational updates; so thank you for that and the rest of the work you do.Gratefully,
