Hewas born in 1939 to his parents who had been homesteading in Montana sincethe spring of 1916. Whenasked what he rememberedwhile growing up, he spokeof walking to school forthree miles uphill. Hestarted with,“What are you afraid of?”and followed with assuringus to “fear not.” He didn’tjust say “don’t be afraid,scared little children,” in-stead he reminded us whatGod said, “do not be afraidfor I am with you.” In addition, he told thosein a ttendancemore of what Jesus said: “I willstrengthen you, Iwill help you, I will upholdyou.” It is a good reminderthat we really don’t have tobe afraid.Everyone was then askedto open their bibles to Psalm23:4 and 27:1. He continuedtelling us who God really is:He is a judge, He is in chargeover all, He is omnipresentand eternal. Psalms 46, 73,and 121 were also referenceas Mr. Olson explained howGod is ginormous, but alsovery intimate. Five of the Lady Lionsscored that night against theLady Porcupines. KylieKirkaldie was in the lead at21 points, including 5 threepointers. Next up was KaitlynToavs at 13 points. MonicaBrown and Kassie Kirkaldiecame up next with a tie at 9points each, and both scoreda three pointer. Sadie pulledin with five points, after re-Lady Lions Best Lady WolvesThe Lions’ Den was packedon Tuesday, January 19, asWolf Point’s squads venturedup to square off against theLions. The varsity girls werefirst to hit the court in theevening’s action. It was ahard-fought match for theLions Face M avericksOn January 15, the NorthCountry Mavericks faced offagainst the Lustre Lions ontheir home court. The Lions’Varsity Played strong andtheir free throw percentagegreatly increased since thelast game. Theyplayed a great game, opening up new scoring options.Their defense was also a keypoint in the game play. Thescore was close at the veryend, but the Lions pulled offa win, 41-38.

Theboys’ JV team kicked off thenight with a very close game.After going into overtime,they ended the match with aclose final score of 29 to 30with Nashua taking the win.Lions Defeat WolvesThe Lady Lions were nextand, after they finished witha win, the varsity boys tookto the court ready to play.Both teams came out strongwith the score very close thewhole time. It seemed as ifneither team would be ableto pull away. With the fanscheering, the Lions finallyfound their rhythm at theend of the fourth quarter.They managed to put thegame away with a 17-pointvictory.By: Jacques NdengeyingomaOn Tuesday, January 19th,the Lions faced off the Wolfpoint Wolves in the Lion’sDen. The Lustre Lions wereon a winning streak of onegame after beating the Dodson Coyotes. This game wasthe first match up againstthe Wolf Point Wolves thisseason. Tuesday night wasthe time to keep the streakgoing. The game started outwith the intense defense ofthe Lions. Thomas was veryactive all night shooting freethrows. The hometown Lionsgot their most points in thesecond half from the freeLady M avericks Defeat Lady LionsOn January 15, 2016, LadyLions had a tough gameplaying the North CountryLady Mavericks. The finalscore was 54-26 NorthCountry to Lustre. MonicaBrown, Sadie Brown, Kyliethrow line. The starters of thenight were Teagan Friesen, Michael Brown, Thomas Brown, LeviBrown, and Jacques Ndengeyingoma. The Lustre lions ended up withthe win by 8 points. Wolf PointWolves wound up with 53 points to61 of the Lustre Lions.B y: Jo yce LiKirkaldie, Kassie Kirkaldie,and Kaitlyn Toavs startedand scored. The scores arein the following chart.
