This meansonly a limited number of students can begin the program eachsemester. ADMISSION GUIDELINES VOCATIONAL NURSINGNURSING, VOCATIONAL (LVN) (CERTIFICATE)Vocational nurses contribute to the plan of care by collaborating with the interdisciplinary team members and with thepatient’s family. Our graduates can readily integrate technical skills and use of computers and equipment into practice.Our Vocational Nursing (VN) program is designed to prepare you to provide nursing care within a directed scope ofpractice under appropriate supervision. Once graduated, you will be able to use a systematic problem-solving process inthe care of multiple patients with predictable health care needs to provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care.Our program represents the beginning level of the nursing practice continuum in the roles of member of the profession,provider of patient-centered care, patient safety advocate, and member of the health care team. It is your responsibility to ensure that: You have read and understand all admission requirements outlined in this document All admission requirements are compliant by 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the admission period All supporting documents are submitted/received in the indicated office or online software by11:59 p.m. on the last day of the admission period Your online application is submitted by 11:59 p.m. on the last day of admission periodIf you do not meet the admission requirements outlined in this document by the deadline yourapplication will be flagged as incomplete. Complete applications are given first consideration.General Admission to TJCYou must be accepted as a TJC student before you can apply tothe nursing program. Your application for admission to TJC canbe completed and submitted on-line at www.tjc.edu/apply.When you apply to the nursing program you must include your"A Number" (student ID).Admission to TJC does not guarantee admission to the nursingprogram. ADMISSION GUIDELINES VOCATIONAL NURSING'IN PROGRESS' COURSE & FINAL GRADEIf you apply with a prerequisite course 'in progress' you must provide proof of enrollment with your applicationand proof of your final grade once the course is complete.Read the 'Prerequisite Course Requirements' section on page 9 to verify which prerequisite course(s) areapproved to be 'in progress' when you apply.Course(s) 'In Progress' at TJCIf a course is 'in progress' at Tyler Junior College, submit one of thefollowing documents with your application: A Degree Works summary showing the course(s) 'in progress' duringthe semester the admission period is open. ADMISSION GUIDELINES VOCATIONAL NURSINGENTRANCE EXAM REQUIREMENTSVocational Nursing applicants must complete two ATI entrance exams; the TEAS exam and the Critical Thinkingexam. The exams must meet all requirements outlined in the tables below.ATI TEAS REQUIREMENTSCRITICAL THINKING REQUIREMENTS You must score a minimum of 50% or better. There is no minimum score. You must have a minimum of 90 days betweeneach attempt at the exam. Exam scores expire one year from the datethey are taken. The highest exam score will be used out ofmultiple valid scores. To be in good standing means you do not have any academic, clinical and/orprofessional disciplinary actions while enrolled in any nursing or health science program.Use the following tables to determine your next required actions.
