It is your responsibility to ensure that: You have read and understand all admission requirements outlined in this document All admission requirements are compliant by 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the admission period All supporting documents are submitted/received in the indicated office or online software by11:59 p.m. on the last day of the admission period Your online application is submitted by 11:59 p.m. on the last day of admission periodIf you do not meet the admission requirements outlined in this document by the deadline yourapplication will be flagged as incomplete. Complete applications are given first consideration.General Admission to TJCYou must be accepted as a TJC student before you can apply tothe nursing program. Your application for admission to TJC canbe completed and submitted on-line at www.tjc.edu/apply.When you apply to the nursing program you must include your"A Number" (student ID).Admission to TJC does not guarantee admission to the nursingprogram. ADMISSION GUIDELINES LVN-RN TRANSITIONPROFESSIONAL LICENSE & EMPLOYMENTWhen you apply to the LVN-RN Transition pathwayyou must have an active Texas Vocational NursingLicense (or priveledges to practice in Texas) and youmust maintain the license throughout the duration ofyour enrollment in the program.You must submit a copy of your license with yourapplication that includes the following information: First and last name License number License expiration dateYou can download a PDF copy of your license usingthe license search feature on the Texas Board ofNursing website.Enrollment in your Last Semester of a Vocational Nursing Program.If you are enrolled in your last semester of a Vocational Nursing program (actively participating in courses)during the admission period you can apply to the LVN-RN Transition pathway.You need to submit the following with your application: Unofficial transcript showing enrollment in the Vocational Nursing program If you are not enrolled at TJC, a complete program curriculum outline/degree planUpon completion of the program you must submit proof of completion/graduation and proof of LVN licensureby the deadline provided.page 9

If one or both of your A&P courses are expired youmust complete one of the approved A&P renewal options.Your A&P renewal option cannot be 'in progress' when youapply. You must submit the final test scores or certificate ofcompletion with your application.CE A&P REFRESHER FOR NURSINGThe A&P refresher course is an online, self-paced (8 weeks)course offered through TJC's School of Continuing Studies. ADMISSION GUIDELINES LVN-RN TRANSITION'IN PROGRESS' COURSE & FINAL GRADEIf you apply with a prerequisite course 'in progress' you must provide proof of enrollment with your applicationand proof of your final grade once the course is complete.Read the 'Prerequisite Course Requirements' section on page 10 to verify which prerequisite course(s) areapproved to be 'in progress' when you apply.Course(s) 'In Progress' at TJCIf a course is 'in progress' at Tyler Junior College, submit one of thefollowing documents with your application: A Degree Works summary showing the course(s) 'in progress' duringthe semester the admission period is open. An unofficial transcript showing the course(s) 'in progress' during thesemester the admission period is open.When you complete the course you must notify the TJC Nursingoffice through your TJC student email. You do not need to submit anydocuments to the TJC Nursing office. Course grades at TJC are availableto the Admissions team once posted in Degree Works.Course(s) 'In Progress' at External CollegeIf a course is 'in progress' at an external college (not at TJC), submit oneof the following documents with your application: An unofficial transcript showing the course 'in progress' during thesemester the admission period is open. ADMISSION GUIDELINES LVN-RN TRANSITIONREQUIRED-COURSE GRADE POINT AVERAGEA Required-Course Grade Point Average (RGPA) is calculated using the most recent grade of each prerequisiteand degree required general education course(s).The RGPA calculation does not include all completed college course credit and might be different from anyGPA listed on a transcript or in Degree Works. You must meet the minimum RGPA requirement at the time yousubmit your application.Required-Course Grade Point Average Criteria The most recent grade for each completed prerequisite or degreerequired course is used. All completed grades of A, B, C, D and F are used. If a course is 'in progress' and has been completed before, thecurrent standing grade is used. An RGPA will not be recalculated to include the final grade of an‘in progress’ course. If you received credit for a course (no grade is assigned) it cannotbe used for RGPA calculation. RGPAs are calculated to 3 decimal places (0.123).
