Tracking: From Paula Elizondo, CNA graduateJune 2012Carmen Robinson and I (Fall 2011-Mr. Parker'sclass) work at Sharp Grossmont Hospital inthe float pool. I'm starting nursing school nextmonth at Grossmont College for my ADNmaybe transferring afterwards for my BSN. Iabsolutely love my job and floating to thedifferent units is challenging but keepseverything fresh and me on my toes. Startingsalary is 13.25hr, but I work night shift sowith differential the salary is 15.00hr. (prettydecent for entry level).

From Paula Elizondo, CNA graduate July 2012 (cont.)As far as recommendations go, I suggestvolunteering if someone wants to try and geta job in a hospital. My volunteer experiencehelped me to make connections at thehospital which in turn helped me to get myfoot in the door. I volunteer in ICU andapplied for a position in that unit, but wasnot hired because of lack of acute careexperience and the manager hired someonefrom within the organization.

From Paula Elizondo, CNA graduate July 2012 (continued)Despite that, I was able to demonstrate to theunit/nurses/healthcare partners, my workethic, ability to learn quickly, care &compassion I have for people, and the unitmanager gave a recommendation to the floatpool and I was hired a few weeks later. I hopethis helps. I constantly refer people to yourprogram because I feel that I've receivedquality training and education that helpedme to be where I'm at today and for that Ithank you and Mr. Parker!”
