Applied Psychological Services, PLLC provides the following: Intellectual Assessments Personality Assessments Learning Disability Assessments Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessments Neuropsychological Assessments Hearing Impaired Psychological AssessmentsThe practicum will entail administering, scoring, and writing up interpretive reports for clientages 6 and up. The practice emphasizes learning assessment and interacting with interestingclients from all ethnic, racial, sexual orientation, and demographic backgrounds. Compensationis based upon evaluations completed. Referrals for clinical neuropsychological and psychological evaluationcome from the Department of Neurology and the outside medical community. The patientpopulation includes a high proportion of degenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease andrelated disorders, Parkinson’s disease, and the secondary parkinsonisms, ischemic vasculardisease, and other neurological syndromes; however, we also evaluate traumatic brain injuriesand chronic traumatic encephalopathy, seizure disorders, normal pressure hydrocephalus, braintumors, headaches, depression, attention deficit disorder, and psychiatric populations. Patientsare almost exclusively adult, with occasional adolescents and children. A typical evaluationincludes a flexible battery approach and requires 3 to 4 hours.Recent and ongoing research projects include the longitudinal study of Alzheimer’s disease,cognitive effects of deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's disease, the influence of sociodemographics on standardized neuropsychological performance, and impulse control disordersand neurodegenerative conditions, among others. We also participate in multidisciplinaryteam meetings to determine candidacy for deep brain stimulation. Several didactic opportunitiesare also available.We accept one half-time U of H graduate student per rotation, and the assigned supervisor willbe dependent on scheduled clinic days. Most student applicants have an interest in thediagnostic, treatment, and social issues across the spectrum of neurological disorders. I would have the students involved in groups (we offer about 30 groups per weekfor drug & DWI court clients; parent edu & stabilization for divorcing families; and othercooperative coparent classes). We have a growing caseload for individual counseling with drug& DWI court clients and I also have the interns assist me with the court ordered families that aregoing through a divorce or custody modification. In addition to these opportunities, I will takeinterns to court to observe expert testimony and introduce them to lawyers and judges. Beyondcounseling, I present around the area on various topics to a multitude of audiences such as, CPS,CASA, MCYS, and the Bar Association for Montgomery County and The Woodlands. I attendseveral conferences each year and invite the interns to join me and to attend any presentations Ifacilitate at the conferences. Finally, I will help them with the process of starting a privatepractice as they near the end of their LPC-Intern hours (for those that stay with me through theentire process).Minimum number of hours students will need to be on site:Up to the student. The Department provides avariety of psychological services to children, family, and staff. This includes consultation,assessment, and intervention. We are accepting two practicum students for the 2017-2018 schoolyear. The practicum students’ primary responsibility will be providing pre-referral (generaleducation) intervention and consultation for two elementary campuses (one campus each). Thiscould include behavioral consultation, behavioral intervention, and counseling (group orindividual). The practicum students would work closely with teachers, staff (including behaviorinterventionists), and the campus LSSP. Students will also have the opportunity to observe thecampus LSSP administering assessments for Special Education eligibility determination and bepresent at IEP or review meetings if that experience is desired, although this will be only a smallportion of the overall practicum experience.Although the practicum’s primary supervisor will be a Ph.D. level clinician with both an LSSPand LP, most of the
