Nearly50 years later, our focus remains on educating and inspiring you,within our inclusive college community, to build the careers andlives that you want. So that you can write your own future.For immigrants, we are a gateway to achieving the Americandream. Returning adult students, who never thought college wasan option, see their families’ lives enriched. Moreover, recent highschool graduates find LaGuardia to be an affordable place to starttheir college education and have an outstanding experience.Providing opportunities is what LaGuardia is all about, andLaGuardia has a lot to offer you.Many LaGuardia graduates transfer to a four-year college to earntheir bachelor’s degree. As a member of the 25-campus strongCity University of New York (CUNY), our graduates benefit fromtransfer agreements with CUNY’s well-regarded senior colleges.While other graduates choose to go right into the workforce.This catalog details our more than 60 associate degree andcertificate programs. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, manyclasses throughout 2020–2021 will be taught online, hybrid orthrough distance learning. Our outstanding faculty and staff areworking hard to provide in-classroom opportunities for programsthat involve labs or other hands-on work. Despite the mostlyvirtual format, I am confident that the promise and spirit ofLaGuardia is alive and well.Today you can find LaGuardians, as we fondly refer to ourgraduates, working throughout New York City and beyond asscientists, teachers, veterinary technicians, nurses, radiologictechnicians, commercial photographers, industrial designers,website developers, computer programmers, paramedics,paralegals, Spanish-English translators, and much more.We know that the pandemic has impacted many of you personally,be it physically, emotionally, mentally or financially. So, I wantyou to know that LaGuardia has numerous resources to help yousucceed both academically and personally. These resources, fromLaGuardia Cares, the LaGuardia Foundation, and otherprograms, are designed to help you take care of your basic needsso you can focus on studying and doing well in your classes.These include laptop loans, help paying for rent, utilities, food,tuition, textbooks, healthcare or other expenses, and more.
