We hope youhad a lovely blend of excitement and relaxationin the school holidays.Zap!!There was much activity at school over theholidays! On Easter Sunday night, a storm cameover and a lightning bolt zapped a tree at ourfront entrance and splayed it about. It somehowfried our phone system which in turn affected ouralarm system. Our poor neighbours had to listento the alarm go off throughout the night. All isfine now however, with everything cleaned upand operational again!Cabling UpgradeAlso in the holidays we had the workers in toinstall computer cabling throughout the school.This will not only ensure fast speeds across ourcomputer network, but we can throw away all theextension cords and power boards.PaintingThe P&C has again paid for a painter to come induring the holidays to make-over the classroomsof KG and 1/2K. They look absolutely superbwith fresh, gleaming blue walls. The studentsand teachers are very excited to be in such anuplifting learning environment. The exterior wallsaround the quad have also been painted abeautiful green. Thank you to the P&C for theircontinued support in making our school such awonderful place.StaffingWe welcome Mrs Margo Collins to our school.She will teach our 5/6 class which will now beknown as 5/6C. We also welcome back MrRohan Carlin to teach 3C.Mrs Jan Fanning will be off for Terms 2 and 3,and possibly longer.Miss Kayla Hawkins will move to the role ofRelease from Face to Face (RFF) Teacher,working from Tuesdays to Fridays.Mrs Belinda Ward will relieve as AssistantPrincipal overseeing Curriculum in Mrs Fanning’sabsence.Vale Peter GallagherToday was the funeral of Peter Gallagher,husband of Sarah Gallagher – one of ourwonderful teachers. He lost his fight to cancerlast Thursday and will be sadly missed. Manystaff attended his funeral today to pay theirrespects. Due to this we had to make differentorganisational arrangements with classes today.We thank you and the students for yourunderstanding.ANZAC CeremonyThe ANZAC Service was held on Tuesday. AlfKeevers, who is the President of the BeresfieldRSL Sub-branch and Lyn Keevers who is theSecretary, were guests of honour at theCeremony.Lyn announced that Ebony Cooper won theEssay and Poetry competition run by the Subbranch.The students showed reverence throughout theCeremony. With even the younger studentsstaying focused.Thank you to Parents and students whoremembered to bring flowers for the occasion.Also thanks to the Captains and Mrs

SCHOOL PHOTOSBeresfield Public School will have school photos on Tuesday 8th May.Each child at Beresfield Public School has received a personalised photo envelope. Theenvelopes are to be returned to school by Monday 7th May. (note: The Photographers chargea surcharge for late orders - last years fee was 20) The envelopes are held unopened in theoffice and are returned to the teacher on the morning of the photos. Please ensure the correctmoney is in the envelope as we do not open the envelopes and therefore cannot give change.Can you please check your child’s details and make any corrections in red.Payment for all students in a family can be placed in one envelope. However all envelopesmust be returned to the school. Clearly mark on each envelope the name and class of the childwho has the money enclosed. If ordering more than one package of photos or class photos,please indicate clearly by adding the number required next to the appropriate box. Lastyear we received a Sony Cybershot digital camera!Sony Foundation and CanTeen have joined forces through their “You Can”fundraising campaign.All you need to do is place your old mobile phone in the collection box on the counter outside theschool office. Any donated mobile phones will be recycled to raise funds to help build youth cancercentres across Australia.Beresfield Public School will be rewarded for collecting the phones with valuable new resources.Please encourage anyone you know to get rid of their old phone in our collection box.
