Madrone Hospice ArtAuction raises 27,000for hospice servicesYREKA - The 21st Annual Art Auctionsupporting Madrone Hospice was ahuge success raising over 27,000.Fifty-eight pieces were auctioned off byRon Lillard and Chris Girdner.A sell out crowd of over two hundredwere served champagne and enjoyedmusic by Victor Martin & Allison Scullduring the art preview with dinnercatered by Raymond's from McCloud.The art auction is the major annual fundraiser for Madrone Hospice. Proceedsfrom the art auction help support theHospice House as well as the expansion of community services. TheMadrone House was created as a placefor hospice patients who are unable toremain at home. In 2006, eighty-twohospice patients called the HospiceHouse "home" for anywhere from oneday to most of the year. Approximately 40 peopleattended the event where therooms were filled with tables ofbeautiful settings with tea cups,saucers and fine silver. The guestwere served traditional teas, finger foods and a delicious assortment of other fine foods providedat the event. An additional 1,400was raised from donations and asilent auction bake sale to assistthe students on their trip.
