To achieve themission, we provide quality education in an entrepreneurial, global context througheffective teaching, theoretical and applied research, and community engagementin a student-centered environment. We offer five (5) undergraduate programs(Accounting, Finance, Management, Management Information Systems andMarketing) and three (3) graduate programs (MBA, Executive MBA and MS inManagement Information Systems) with concentrations.

Nearly half of the industry leadersbelieve that a limited availability of key skilled talent poses a serious threat to their growth and only a third believethat they have access to the talent they need to execute their strategy over the next three years according to thelatest PwC Annual CEO Survey.Banking Industry FactsHouston is the fourth largest and the most diverse cityTexas employs 150,000 bankers across the state.in the United States. It is home to 90,000 black ownedHowever, the need for talent and diversification in thebusinesses who depend on commercial bankers forfield of banking has never been greater. Our mission will be to educate and prepare students to becomecommercial bankers working with our banking partners to build a premier program that will delivera pipeline of students from underserved minority communities with skills to add value to theirorganizations. INITIATING GROWTHTexas Southern University is one of the largest Historically Black Colleges in America; we are proud of our past andextremely excited about our future. To maintain a world-class educational environment that attracts highly sought-afterprofessors and forward leaning students, we must remain vigilant in identifying industries which inherently align with ourvalues and create lifelong rewarding careers for our students. The banking industry is well aligned to our goals for growth.IDEATIONStarting Fall Semester of 2021, the JHJ School of Business will launch the Future BankersLeadership Program, which will prepare our students for a highly rewarding and productivecareer in the field of banking. The role of a commercial banker remains essential to thehealth and well-being of our local communities. Commercial Bankers work with businessowners to provide lending / capital needs and support their economic stability.IMPLEMENTATIONWorking with our local banks we will provide human capital, mentorship, funding, and onthe job training to prepare our students with the knowledge and associated skill setsto become a successful commercial banker. We are excited to partner with AllegianceBank and the Texas Bankers Association to champion our near-term needs and longterm vision.FUTURE PLANSTo expand our banking curriculum to engage emerging roles in banking and financialtechnology (FinTech) - such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, digital banking andbanking as a service technology platforms (BaaS).

INITIATING GROWTHOur vision is to develop a Banking, Teaching and Research CenterProgram with strong support from the community and donors to helpmake it a reality.10.0 CAMPAIGNWe have launched a campaign to raise 10.0 million dollars in support(with programs and curriculum) to establish endowed professorships andfellowships to support the faculty, to offer guaranteed internships,scholarships and job opportunities (with certain criterion) from admission tograduation.FUTURE PLANS Develop a curriculum that includes FINTECH, and compliance/governanceissues; Develop a JHJ School finance institute and certificate program to encouragestudents majoring in other disciplines to develop banking industry; and interests Propose an MBA program with a finance/banking concentration and a MS/MAprogram in finance with faculty input.IMPLEMENTATION The campaign will render support for advising, recruiting, and public relations/promotion to improve the JHJ School operation for short term needs andlong-term goals. Develop partner relationships to enhance the JHJ School reputation with otherUniversities, Banking Associations, and financial industry seminars.

Future Bankers Leadership ProgramOur goal is to establish an operational and endowed bankingprogram that will sustain the development and growth of adiverse population of leaders in banking in perpetuity. Thisprogram will support student recruitment, scholarships,banking program faculty, research, curriculum enhancements,internships and student professional development. Thefoundational commercial bank program being offered bythe Jesse H.
