RoofingContractor is proud to recognize thisyear’s stand-out roofing professionalswith its seventh annual Top 100 RoofingContractors List. As both the industry andthe economy continue to evolve, the nation’sleading roofing contractors have quicklyadapted to stay ahead of the competition. For 2015, we’re thrilled to welcome newthriving companies as well as honor thosethat have made the list every year since itsinception — proving that they know what ittakes to consistently succeed regardless of thecircumstances. As always, the list includes only companies located in the United States, andrankings are based solely on annual salesrevenue. Each roofing contractor voluntarily reported its total revenue and businessstatistics for 2014, while some also sharedvaluable insight into their companies, theindustry and the economy. All informationwas self-reported between Feb. 4 and July 13of 2015.Coming out on top for the fourth yearin a row is CentiMark Corporation ofCanonsburg, Pa. The company reportedmore than 508 million in revenue for thispast year — a significant increase over 2013.“CentiMark continued to enjoy a strong financial performance in 2014,” President andCOO Timothy M. Dunlap said. “We had adouble-digit percentage increase in operatingincome due to both an increase in sales andseveral operational-efficiency initiatives.”Standing firm at No. 2 is Tecta AmericaCorporation of Rosemont, Ill., with 397million in reported revenue. (Read moreabout Tecta America on pages 38-42 of thisissue!) Rounding out the top 10 are BakerRoofing Company of Raleigh, N.C.; NorthAmerican Roofing Services Inc. of Asheville,N.C.; Nations Roof of Lithia Springs, Ga.;Mr. Roof/Able Roof of Columbus, Ohio;Lyons Roofing of Phoenix; Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal of Wheeling, W.Va.;Beldon Group of Companies of San Antonio; and American Dream Home Improvement Inc. of Downers Grove, Ill.Gaining MomentumAfter reviewing feedback from this year’sTop 100 Roofing Contractors, it’s refreshing to share that many acknowledgedan uptick in both the U.S. constructionmarket and overall economy. While 2014wasn’t devoid of challenges — severalcompanies noted harsh winter weather andskilled-labor shortages as minor setbacks— the majority of contractors reported anincrease in annual sales revenue over 2013.Ken Kelly, president of Kelly Roofingin Naples, Fla., explained that he startedtaking the necessary steps to acquire workand gain market share back in 2008, andnow that the market is finally improvingReprinted with permission from Roofing Contractor, August 2015 2015, BNP Media.

as a whole, his company’s piece of the pie isgrowing with it.“2014 was the year everyone learned thatthe economy was recovering,” he said. “Forthose who had been properly planning forsuccess and had the right pieces in place,2014 was a great year. We had one of our bestyears ever in 2014.”Kelly isn’t alone. Several companies suchas North American Roofing Services Inc. ofAsheville, N.C.; Lyons Roofing of Phoenix;and Aetna Roofing Corporation of Trenton,N.J., reported solid growth that exceededpresident of KPost Company in Dallas, saidhis company grew its annual sales revenueby 25 percent over 2013. Some even pointed tothis past year as the best since the economicdownturn.“We’re proud to say 2014 was our bestyear in business since the Great Recession,”said Rob Kornahrens, owner of AdvancedRoofing Inc. in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. “Theentire company worked hard to achieve itsgoals and to reach new heights with ourproducts and service.”Many contractors agreed that growth inboth the new construction and re-roofingmarkets spurred a rebound in available workand overall sales this past year. “2014 was avery good year with both revenue growthand solid gross profits,” said Brynne Smith, president of Flynn – U.S. Operations inMinneapolis. “One factor of the improvingeconomy is that some of our large manufacturing clients have been funding upgrades totheir facilities over the last couple of years, i.e.re-tooling, expanding and completing re-roofwork that had been put on hold during thedownturn. New construction has also beenimproving, and we worked on several verylarge new facilities during 2014.”An improved economy combinedwith old-fashioned hard work resulted insignificant achievements for several of thetop contractors in 2014. Inc. in Chesterfield,Mich., has similar projections. “All indicatorsare pointing to a strong 2015 for us,” hesaid. “We have a backlog of work, and bidding activity has been flourishing throughout the winter months. Many propertyowners put off large capital expenditureswhen the recession hit in 2008 — MichiganReprinted with permission from Roofing Contractor, August 2015 2015, BNP Media.was especially affected. Now that businessesare seeing better financial performance, they’re willing to start investing in theirproperty again.”“With businesses and municipalitiesback in growth mode and reinvesting intheir properties, we expect strong commercial real estate re-roofing demandthroughout 2015,” agreed Rob Kornahrens, owner of Advanced Roofing Inc. in FortLauderdale, Fla. “We’re ready to meet thedemand. We added 20 new employees lastyear and anticipate adding an additional20 in the next six months. In 2015, wewill continue to invest in training ouremployees, developing the next generationof roofers and supporting the community, all while working to increase our revenueby 20 percent.”Many of the top roofing contractorsshare this same view, as they’re expectingto perform just as well — if not better —in the current year.
