These members have qualified to participate based onsuperior performance at the district and association level. More than 1,000business professionals serve as expert judges to evaluate DECA members’mastery of these concepts.In addition, members may register to participate in DECA’s Emerging LeaderSeries, which helps them attain 21st Century Skills in the areas of collaborationand teamwork, communication, critical thinking and problem solving andcreativity.The National Association ofSecondary School Principalshas placed this program on theNASSP National Advisory List ofContests and Activities for2020-2021.

Registration for DECA’s International Career Development Conference is submitted to DECA Inc. by Michigan DECAonce we verify the information from chapter advisors. All “Leaders,” “Competitors,” and “Advisors” attending theconference are required to register for the conference and ALL delegates must meet ALL eligibility requirementsset by DECA Inc., including membership. This will give us time to notify analternate in the event. The form is on page 9 of this packet, and also posted on on payments are due to Michigan DECA by April 10, 2021.REGISTRATION DEADLINEThe registration deadline is Friday, March 19, 2021. There will be a 20.00 late fee for all registrations received afterFriday, March 19, 2021.No additions/substitutions for competitors will be accepted after Thursday, April 1, 2021.REFUND POLICYNo refunds will be granted for adjustment of a chartered association’s registration after 4:30 p.m. ET on Thursday,April 1, 2021. All substitutions and cancellations must be made through Michigan DECA.ACADEMY (EMERGING LEADER SERIES)This year, those registering for the LEADER PACKAGE during DECA’s Virtual International Career DevelopmentConference will be able to sample on-demand sessions from DECA’s Emerging Leader Series. Each session will be 20-45 minutes, depending on the content. The on-demand sessions will be availableduring the week of April 19-23 so DECA members can take advantage of sessions on their schedule.A listing of the sessions that are included in the package is on page 8 of this packet.Because we do not have space limitations this year, there are no allocation limits for those wishing toregister for the LEADER PACKAGE.Those who register for the COMPETITOR PACKAGE will also receive access to these sessions, so they donot need to register separately for the LEADER PACKAGE.

INTERNATIONAL CAREER DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCEQUALIFIER NOT ATTENDING FORMDeadline: March 18, 2021 or soonerPlease complete this form if you had a student or team qualify to attend the International Conference and they are not able toattend. This will allow Michigan DECA to notify the next qualifier in a timely manner. Refer to the Substitution Policy belowregarding Team Events.SchoolStudent and/or team not attending the International ConferenceCompetitive Event student and/or team had qualified inAdvisor SignatureDateSubstitution Policy: (Refer to the Michigan DECA Guide)No substitutions will be allowed in the Individual Events, Team Events, Introductory Core Events or Leadership &Teamwork Events. If one member of a team cannot attend the next level of competition, no one may be substituted inhis or her place. If the event requires a minimum number of team members (i.e. TDM Events), the original team will notadvance and the alternate team will be called to attend the next level of competition. The remaining team member(s)will not be allowed to attend the conference or compete.For Written Events, only one of the team members may be substituted between levels of competition, and the teamsize may not increase from the original number registered. For example, if a Finance Operations Research Project wasentered with John and Mary as the participants, and qualified at the State Conference to advance to the InternationalLevel, no additional participants may be added. If either Mary or John couldn’t attend the ICDC, then the other couldcompete alone, or one of them may be substituted, but one of the original members has to participate. The team sizecould not increase from 2 to 3 participants.For All Written Events, the names on the submitted written projects must be the same as those on the conferenceregistration form. ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCEDUREFollow instructions below to register your chapter with Michigan DECA.Registration will take place through Michigan DECA’s ICDC portal at https://www.decaregistration.com/mi-icdc1. Click on the REGISTRATION button, and login using the same username and password that you use for theDECA Membership Portal.2. Update your information for this conference, to make sure you will receive confirmations and invoices. Donot enter any special needs information or notes here, as it will not be seen. Click SAVE when finished. Thistakes you to the registration screen.3. To register Students, click on the ADD STUDENT MEMBER button. Your registered student DECA memberswill be listed.a. Choose the appropriate participant type for each student: STUDENT LEADER– for students accessing the on-demand workshops and academies only. STUDENT COMPETITOR – for students competing only.b. Choose a shirt size for each student. (REQUIRED)c. Click SAVE at the bottom of your student member list. This will take you to your list of attendees.4. You need to add an event to each student - each student may only be registered for 1 event or academy.Click on EDIT & SELECT EVENTS next to the student’s name.a. The chart you see is only for the student listed near the top of the page.b. Student Leader participant types can only be added to LEADS – STUDENT LEADER WORKSHOPSc. Place a check next to the correct event.d. For team events, keep the #1 in the team number column for both students on the team. You willonly change the number when you register a second team in the same event. (For example, youregister John & Mike in STDM team #1. Next you register Charlie & Grace in BTDM team #1. Thenyou register Kate & Stacy who are also competing in BTDM; then you will change the team column to#2 for both Kate & Stacy, since you will have 2 teams in BTDM.)e. NEW REQUIREMENT - for all team events, you will need to select ONE member to act as TeamCaptain on this screen. This student will be responsible for logging into the system to upload theircompetition files.f. Click SAVE and repeat for all other students that are attending.5. To register Advisors, click on the ADD NON-STUDENT button. You are required to have a minimum of 1advisor per chapter.a. Type in the name.b. Choose a shirt size for each. (REQUIRED)c. Click SAVE and repeat for additional advisors.6. Do not enter any special accommodations in the portal. All special accommodations should becommunicated to DECA by using the online form at http://www.deca.org/icdcspecialservices7. click on the REVIEW EVENTS button to make sure you have entered all the student’s events and teamscorrectly.8. When finished, click on the FINISH REGISTRATION button on the main screen.9. An invoice will be emailed to you. Payment is due to Michigan DECA by April 10, 2021. All substitutions and cancellations must be made through Michigan DECA before April 1, 2021.DO NOT update the membership system as these changes will not be received in time.

STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDSWe want to make every opportunity available for our special needs members to participate in the ICDC. Anonline form is at http://www.deca.org/icdcspecialservices to identify students that need special services. Wewill work with the school and/or chartered association to provide the appropriate services. It is critical that wereceive the form by the March 27 due date in order to arrange the appropriate services.COMPETITION INFORMATIONYour competitive events qualifiers should only register for ICDC if they can participate on the designateddays of their competitive event. Unfortunately, there are no exceptions.For preliminary competition, members will have a specific day for each component: to turn in their writtenentry, take their exam and record their presentation. They can do this during a timeframe (8 am EST to 9 pmEST) at any point during that specific day. For final competition, members will have a specific day and time fortheir presentation that will be published with the announcement of the finalists.Before registering your competitors, please ensure that your competitive events qualifiers will be able toparticipate using live video conference software at any given point during the school day on the event’sscheduled final competition day, if competitors advance to finals. During the live final video competition, anadult proctor will join the student member(s) and judge(s).All members appearing before a judge must wear an official DECA blazer and adhere to the dress code. Thedeadline to order blazers and receive prior to ICDC is April 1.COMPETITION SCHEDULEOn the next page is the competition schedule established by DECA.Please confirm with your students that they are available during the set time and day for their event for BOTHthe preliminary and final schedule. DECA is not able to accommodate special requests for a time or datechange for competition. Refunds will not be available after April 1, 2021 if they find that they cannot beavailable during their scheduled time.
