EMC SourceOne Products Compatibility GuideUsage of shortcuts from mobile devices requires that theUniversal URL Web service for the EMC SourceOne MobileServices software be configured using the EMC SourceOneconsole.Refer to the EMC SourceOne Installation Guide for information onhow to install EMC SourceOne Mobile Services software tosupport mobile devices. Refer to “Using shortcuts with emailclients supported by the Universal URL feature” on page 24 forinformation on shortcut usage with mobile devices.Using shortcuts with email clients supported by the Universal URL featureThe EMC SourceOne Universal URL feature provides aplatform-independent mechanism to restore shortcuts that onlyrequires the email client to launch a web browser from an embeddedURL link within the body of a shortcut message. Email clients such asMicrosoft Entourage and OWA Light and mobile Exchange emailclients such as the Research in Motion Blackberry make use of thiscapability. These email clients typically rely on a pull mechanism to retrievemessages, and so synchronization between mailbox shortcuts and thedisplay of the retrieved shortcut messages in the email client may lag. This lag is caused by having large numbers of cached messagesstored locally.Users may avoid this retrieval and display lag by periodicallysynchronizing their email client mailbox in order to reduce their localcache size, if the email client has that capability.EMC SourceOne Email Management 6.6 core component compatibilityTable 3 on page 9 describes the supported environment in which theEMC SourceOne Email Management 6.6 core components can beinstalled.8EMC SourceOne Products Compatibility Guide
