The system features a permanent magnet generator (PMG)installed between the engine and transmission, a power control unit and a true sine wave inverter. This enablesthe vehicle to export 10kW of 120/208 3 phase power on the move, and 30kW in stationary export mode. No additional belts, bearingsor shafts are added. The TIG encompasses thesame volume as thestandard transmission and converts mechanicalenergy into electrical energy directly from thevehicle’s engine, the most efficient way togenerate electrical power.The TITAN OBVP TIG system offerscommanders immediate operational powercapability On the Move (OTM) or At the Halt(ATH). PERMANENT MAGNETGENERATOR (PMG)GEARBOXTORQUE CONVERTERThe Transmission Integral Generator(TIG) features a Leonardo DRSgenerator combined with an Allisonmilitary transmission.Leonardo DRS and the U.S. Army haveinstalled the TITAN OBVP 3TIG in a varietyof MRAP and Stryker vehicles. Thesevehicles have generated thousands of hoursof power in U.S. Army operational testingduring Network Integration Evaluations(NIEs), Sustainability/Logistics-Basingdemonstrations and other events. At thesedemonstrations, U.S. Army testing showedthat vehicles equipped with the TITANOBVP 3TIG substantially reduced the timerequired to make and break formationswhile significantly reducing fuel use whencompared to formations using traditionalgenerator sets.AVAILABLE TITANOBVP TIG SYSTEMSThere are currently two Leonardo DRS-AllisonTITAN OBVP TIG systems for a wide range ofmedium and heavy class wheeled platformsusing Allison Specialty Series transmissions.The 3TIG system provides 30 to 125 kW frommedium tactical vehicles using the Allison3000 series transmission.
