Pilot Operated Joystick ControlsLow effort, comfortable controls reduce fatigue, increase the viewing area and givethe operator more legroom.Pilot Operated Stabilizer Controls.These provide low effort and finemodulation control. The stabilizercontrols are within easy reach of theoperator when operating the backhoe.Pilot Control Pods. Located on the leftand right sides, the controls can movefore and aft and three stops are availablefor ergonomically correct positioning.Joystick Controls. Standard excavatorstyle joysticks provide smoothmodulation and are ergonomicallydesigned for low effort control andoperator comfort. The load-sensing,variable flow hydraulic system senseswork demand and adjusts flow andpressure to match. This allows fullhydraulic forces at any engine speedfor delicate jobs in tight areas.Hydraulic Pump. Closed-centeredimplement valves, with pressurecompensation for reduced lever effort,signal hydraulic system requirementsto a control valve located on the pump.This valve controls the pump to deliverthe flow and pressure necessary tofulfill the implement demands.Dual Setting Torque Limiter. The variabledisplacement pump provides betterperformance in both backhoe and loaderoperations through a dual setting torquelimiter. It automatically optimizes powerto the hydraulic system during backhoeoperations and manages the powerbalance between the loader hydrauliccircuit and the drive train during frontloader operations.XT-3 ES Hoses. Improved bend radiusand abrasion resistance provide reliablelong life in the toughest conditions.Made of four overlapping, insulatedwire spiral wraps bonded together fordurability, XT-3 ES (Enhanced Spiral)hoses exceed SAE certification standards.The hose routing protects them fromwork damage, and hose failure downtimeis substantially reduced. XT-3 ES hosescombined with Caterpillar couplingsand O-ring face seal fittings providea leak-free system.Clamps and Bushings. Power TrainNew Cat 3054C DIT engine delivers higher net horsepower and increased lug performancefor high productivity and efficiency.Air Cleaner. A new, dry-type, axial sealair cleaner with automatic, integrateddust ejection system provides moreefficient pre-separation. The two-stageair filter incorporates both air cleanerand precleaner functions into a singleunit mounted under the hood.Transmission. The Caterpillar PowerShuttle transmission provides four speedsforward and reverse. Full synchromeshgears and hydraulically shifted forwardand reverse shuttle clutches allowdirection and travel speed to be changedon-the-go. A neutral start provisionprevents starting while the shuttleis engaged.3054C DIT Diesel Engine. New 3054CDIT (Direct Injection Turbocharged)meets all U.S. EPA Tier 2/EU Stage IIemissions requirements and delivershigher horsepower, increased torquerise and reliable power with lowemissions while providing excellentfuel economy with an efficient fuelsystem and traditional Caterpillardurability.10Direct Injection Fuel System.
