MC Terrell School - Surplus Why is the MC Terrell School Surplus?– DCPS closed its program in MC Terrell in 2013– DCPS has determined that it will not reuse the MC Terrell School– No identified District agency purposeWhat happens to the MC Terrell School next?– DC law (§ 38-1802.09 - Landrieu Act) requires that public charterschools are given the right to submit offers on surplus schoolsbefore any other offer can be considered– Feedback received at tonight’s meeting will be used to informthe development of the Request for Offers, as well as theevaluation of offers received

School Reuse seRFOReceive Post RFO Awardoffers Meeting RFO DC Code requires that the District receives offers for reuse on surplusschool buildings from charter schools before any other offer - the right offirst offer. Council recently passed a law that expands the right of firstoffer The new law requires that all vacant school buildings without anidentified future DCPS use are available through the right of first offer(RFO) process To be more strategic about where charter schools are located, we areevaluating the data, bringing that to the community and talking aboutwhat’s best for the community, students and parents – and how can wepair that with what is achievable within the confines of the law.

(e.g., earlychildhood, elementary, middle, high, adult, special needs) Are there any particular programs you would like to seeoffered by a charter school operator?
