INTRODUCTIONThis document takes you through the step-by-step process required to install anAVT EZ ValveTM. Advanced Valve Technologies (AVT) manufactures comprehensivesolutions for the safe and sustainable repair and rehabilitation of critical waterinfrastructure. The company is best known for the AVT EZ Valve , an awardwinning inline insertion valve designed for quick and easy installation foremergency water line repair and pipeline maintenance, requiring nodisruption in service.Critical Infrastructure University (CIU) provides education, training, instructionand knowledge on the vital infrastructure resources that help keep the worldrunning. Our curriculum includes general industry education along with usertraining specific to Fortistructure Solutions’ products and services.
1Clean pipe down to base material. If pits or highpoints are present, try to avoid them. If you can’t,grinding may be required for an end result of asmooth pipe for optimum seal.2Check diameter of pipe and selectproper gasket set.3Using the gasket as a template markwhere the valve will be sealing onthe pipe.4User Manual
4Apply AVT food-grade tape to thepipe. Wrap twice and ensure it isfree from wrinkles.5Using AVT food grade lubricant.Grease tape liberally. Grease the6Place top half of valve on pipeand carefully bolt bottom half ofgrooves of the top and bottomthe valve body in place using thesection of the valve body whereT-bolts that came with your valve.the gaskets will be sealing. Insertgaskets and grease liberally.
78Apply pressure to valve body,Attach gearbox to appropriateLevel valve and tighten bolts.AVT recommends 10Bar orring. Attach Gear box ringDO NOT tighten valve body1.5 times maximum systemsnugly to pipe. Tighten setall the way down! 10 11Attach alignment ring.Fit stop pin over slide gate12feed screw and tighten setring snugly against valve body.screws. Close slide gateUsing the U gauge align the ringensuring 12 turns and open.with the stop pin. Tighten ringLevel the valve, then fit the stopmaking sure the U gauge staysaligned with stop pin.13Attach flush portassembly.14Attach mounting plateusing bonnet bolts. 16Blow off pressure andattach flush hose.17Rotate valve body down to oneside until stop pin makes contactwith ring ensuring chip flush portis facing upwards.8User Manual
18Lower cutting head to the pipe. Set the top arrow of travel gauge to the reddepth indicator.The arrows with the longer travel range are for 4” to 8” and the shorter travelrange is for 10” to 12”. Back cutting head off of pipe and start motor.Slowly pierce pipe until the red depth indicator is between the bottomarrows. Lock feed with black knob.

25Install restraint bolts and tighten.turn in a lug nut pattern. (Oppositesides tightened in succession).27Close valve completely as you count turns.12User Manual26Retract valve to open position.
2829Close valve the rest of the wayBring gate to the fully opendown. This cuts off pressure toposition ensuring the correctthe valve body. Remove flushnumber of turns.hose setup and plug hole with1” plug for 4” to 8”, or 1 ½” plugfor 10” to 12”.30Congratulations you havecompleted your EZ Valve insertion.
