EPM 7000 Power MeterOverviewThe EPM 7000 meter provides revenue class(0.2%) three phase power metering withoptional Ethernet , relay, status, and analogoutput communication modules. This flexiblemeter can be used for a wide range of highaccuracy applications including disturbancerecording and power quality studies.EPM 7000 can easily be mounted in a panel forgenerator monitoring, substation automation, power quality studies, data recording and more. The meter can also provide data to RTUs, PLCsand other control devices. The EPM 7000 is a highly accurate meterproviding 0.1% accuracy for Voltage andCurrent. The unit’s real-time clock provides timestamping of all logs as they are created. Upto 4 MB of data can be logged for analysis ofhistorical trends, limit alarms, I/O changes powerquality recording and sequence of events.MeteringThe following electrical parameters are measuredand remotely accessed from the EPM 7000.Universal Voltage and Current InputsThis meter allows voltage input measurements20 Volts to 576 Volts Line to Neutral and up to721 Volts Line to Line. This ensures proper metersafety when wiring directly to high voltagesystems. The unit will perform to specificationon 69 Volt, 120 Volt, 230 Volt, 277 Volt and 347Volt power systems.Unique Current Input ConnectionsEPM 7000 meter uses two current input wiringmethods. Method One - CT pass through.Directly pass the CT through the meterwithout any physical termination on themeter. This insures that the meter cannotbe a point of failure on the CT circuit. Thisis preferable to utility users when sharingrelay class CTs. No Burden is added to thesecondary CT circuit. Method Two - Current “Gills.”The meter additionally providesultra-rugged termination pass through barsallowing the CT leads to be terminated onthe meter. This also eliminates any possiblepoint of failure at the meter. This method isalso a preferred technique for ensuring relayclass CT integrity does not get compromised. No terminal blocks are required and this studbased design ensures that CTs will not openunder a fault condition.Through an optional high speed Modbuscommunications interface, the meter can alsoprovide data to RTUs, PLCs and other controldevices at Baud rates ranging from 9600 baudto 57.6 kbaud.Solid Construction with MountingVersatilityThe EPM 7000 has a rugged design for harshenvironment . This is especially important inpower generation, utility substation, and criticaluser applications. The structural and electricaldesign of this meter was developed based onthe recommendations and approvals of manyof our utility customers.EPM 7000 can easily be mounted in a panel forgenerator monitoring, substation automationand more. The unique dual design combinesANSI and DIN mounting structure and allowseasy installation for both new meteringapplications and retrofit of existing analogmeters. The unit mounts directly in an ANSI C39.1(4” Round form) or an IEC 92 mm DIN square form.Future Upgrade PacksThe EPM 7000 is equipped with a virtualfirmware based switch that allows featureupgrades through communications even afterinstallation. This allows you to optimize yourmetering investment. Begin with a standardmeter and upgrade it with more functionality asnew features are needed, such as data-logging,waveform capture or more memory.Multifunction Metering & Power Quality MonitoringThe EPM 7000 can provide a total picture usage and power quality as different points within a power distribution network on critical infrastructure such as datacenters, allowing users to make power related decisions quickly and effectively.Energy ManagementControllerMonitor branch circuitswith revenue grademultifunction power metersContinuous monitoring ofpower quality events &automatic waveformcaptureHigh performance powerquality monitoring &revenue class meteringEPM 70002GEDigitalEnergy.com
