2022 Distinguished SpeakersMichael W. DrydenAmanda DonnellyTimothy HackettMichael Dryden, DVM, MS, PhD, DACVM, is an Emeritus UniversityDistinguished Professor of Veterinary Parasitology, at Kansas StateUniversity. He received his DVM from Kansas State University, spent2.5 years in private practice and then received his M.S. & Ph.D. inVeterinary Parasitology from Purdue University. He is the author orco-author of 150 journal articles and 15 book chapters on veterinaryparasitology. He has lectured in 22 countries, presenting 1,000 invited seminars on clinical veterinary parasitology at local, regional,national and international meetings. Dr. Dryden has received numerousteaching, research and service awards throughout his career, includingthe Pfizer Award for Research Excellence, the KSU DistinguishedService Award from the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, aRecognition Award in Urban Entomology from the northcentral branchof the Entomological Society of America, an Excellence in TeachingAward from the American College of Veterinary Dermatology, theVeterinarian of the Year presented at the 56th Annual Show Dogs of theYear Awards at the Westminster Dog Show, the American Associationof Veterinary Parasitologists Distinguished Parasitologist of the Yearand the American Association of Veterinary MicrobiologistsDistinguished Microbiologist of the Year.Dr. Amanda Donnelly is a sought-speaker, consultant, and author withover 30 years’ experience in the veterinary profession. She is a second-generation veterinarian who combines her practice experience andbusiness expertise to help veterinarians communicate better with theirteams and clients.Dr. Hackett received his DVM in 1989 from Colorado StateUniversity. After completing an internship at VCA West LosAngeles Animal hospital and a year in private emergency practice, he completed an emergency and critical care medicineresidency at Colorado State University in 1994. He spent thenext 25 years on faculty at Colorado State including leadershipof the emergency/critical care service, Small Animal Chief ofStaff, Veterinary Teaching Hospital Director, and AssociateDean of the Veterinary Health System. He was President of theAmerican College of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine2011-2013. He joined the faculty at Cornell in 2021 as Professorof Emergency/Critical Care Medicine and Chair, Department ofClinical Sciences.His early research focused on sepsis and infectious disease incritical illness, cardiopulmonary critical care, trauma, andenvenomation. His current focus is in gaining an understandingof snake venom across species with a goal of more economicaland available antivenom products.Dr. Donnelly is a graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at theUniversity of Missouri. She has an MBA from Baker University inOverland Park, Kansas and holds a certificate in Veterinary PracticeAdministration from the AAHA Veterinary Management Institute(VMI) at Purdue University.Dr. Donnelly is the author of Leading and Managing VeterinaryTeams: The Definitive Guide to Veterinary Practice Management, acontributing author for Blackwell’s Five-Minute Veterinary PracticeManagement Consult and Pet-Specific Care for Veterinary Teams. Shealso writes the Talk the Talk communication column for Today’sVeterinary Business journal.Well known as a dynamic speaker, Dr. Donnelly has twice been namedPractice Management Speaker of the Year for the VMX Conference.
