These transmitters were qualified perIEEE Std 323-1971 and IEEE Std 344-1975 atradiation levels of 5 106 rads TID gamma radiation,seismic levels of 3 g, and forsteam-pressure/chemical spray performance.Stringent quality control during the manufacturingprocess includes traceability of pressure-retainingparts, special nuclear cleaning, and hydrostatictesting.FIGURE 1. Units are available inabsolute (AP), gage (GP), differential (DP), andhigh-line differential (HP) configurations, with eightpressure range options.Direct electronic sensing with the completely sealed -Cell capacitance sensing element (see Figure 1)eliminates mechanical force transfer and problemsassociated with shock and vibration. Installation andcommissioning are simplified by compact design,2-wire system compatibility, and external span andzero adjustments. Wiring terminals and electronicsare in separate compartments, so the electronicsremain sealed during installation.IsloatingDiaphramWelded SealsRosemount 1152APLead nSilicone OilOperationThe completely sealed -Cell capacitance sensingelement is the key to the unequalled performance andreliability of the Rosemount 1152 PressureTransmitter. Process pressure is transmitted throughan isolating diaphragm and silicone oil fill fluid to asensing diaphragm in the center of the -Cell (seeFigure 1). The reference pressure is transmitted in thesame manner to the other side of the sensingdiaphragm. The displacement of the sensingdiaphragm, a maximum motion of 0.004 in. (0.1 mm),is proportional to the pressure differential across it.The position of the sensing diaphragm is detected bycapacitor plates on both sides of the sensingdiaphragm.
