The focus of IIT’s School of Applied Technology (SAT) is the future: theapplication and integration of new technologies that will change howwe live and work. Our distinctive programs are designed to broaden anddeepen your knowledge of new, emerging, and existing technologies—as well as the managerial practices to utilize them effectively.SAT offers programs in: Food Science and Nutrition— Students learn about food safety,food technology, food process engineering, and nutrition. Industrial Technology and Management—Students learn aboutoperations management, process analysis, quality control, projectmanagement, risk assessment, management information systems,technology implementation, strategy, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Information Technology and Management—Students learnabout cyber security, database applications, data analytics, digitalnetworks, wireless communications, mobile-device applications,cloud computing, forensics, and embedded systems.All programs are hands-on, project- and/or laboratory-based graduateprograms that focus on applied practices, but are balanced withtheoretical underpinnings.

Many are also balancing work and familycommitments while earning their graduate degrees.Courses are conveniently offered at times to suit a workingprofessional’s schedule—and can be completed live and/oronline. IIT has campuses in Chicago and Wheaton, and operatesa Food Safety and Technology laboratory in Bedford Park.career-targeted sPecIalIzatIonsSAT programs offer several specializations that are market focusedand targeted toward specific careers. If you want to concentrate on anarea of interest (non-degree option), SAT offers certificate programsconsisting of four graduate courses. All courses may later be appliedtoward master’s degrees (for those accepted to a degree program).

T E CHNOL OG YIndUstrIal technology and ManageMentThe Master of Industrial Technology and Operations (MITO) degree is designedfor individuals whose technical education and/or work experience requires abroader understanding of management topics specific to manufacturing,supply chain and logistics, sustainability, and industrial facilities. Our coursesprepare you for leadership and entrepreneurial roles in world-class companiesin a variety of industries with responsibility for local, regional, national, andinternational operations.InforMatIon technology and ManageMentThe Master of Information Technology and Management (MITM) and Master ofCyber Forensics and Security degrees and certificates are designed for prospectiveand current IT professionals who seek a hands-on, laboratory-based programwith theoretical underpinnings to broaden and deepen their knowledge of newand emerging information technologies, the application and integration of thesetechnologies, and the administrative practices used in the effective managementof these technologies.

food scIence and nUtrItIonThe Department of Food Science and Nutrition (FdSN) supported byIIT’s internationally renowned Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH)offers master’s degree (thesis and professional) and certificate programsin Food Safety and Technology and Food Process Engineering.FdSN also offers the industry-orientated Food Processing SpecialistCertificate Program. Through our unique collaborative researchconsortium, the academic program provides opportunities for studentsto work with IIT, FDA and industry scientists and professionals.
