NEW CANAAN YMCA2019 Impact ReportCOUNT ON THE Y

Dear friends,I am writing this letter in 2020. As we all know incredibly well, 2020 has been an unpredictable and challengingyear. As I look back at 2019 though, which this report details, and as we are currently navigating through2020’s challenges, it is remarkably clear that a strong foundation is vital to an organization’s ability to weathera storm.Year after year, the support of our donors, volunteers, board, employees, and members helps us build upon thisfoundation, making it possible that regardless of the need, challenge, or goal, the community can always counton the Y.YOUTHDEVELOPMENTIndividuals of all ages, abilities, goals, and needs count on the Y every day. Parents know they can counton the Y for safe and character-building opportunities for children to develop confidence, healthy habits, and strong relationships, and for safe out-of-school activities for teens. Families with children and adultswith special needs know they can count on the Y as a place to belong, make friends, and celebrate abilities.Whether deciding to reprioritize their health, or seeking the motivation of friends to train regularly, adultsof all health and fitness stages know they can count on the Y to achieve their goals. Our community’sinspiring cancer survivors know they can count on the Y to regain strength in a supportive environment. Ourcommunity’s seniors know they can count on the Y to remain active physically, mentally, and socially. Andthose who need a helping hand know that they can count on the Y for financial assistance, ensuring everyonehas access to becoming healthier and happier at the Y.When you’re part of our Y—whether as a member, donor, volunteer, or employee—you’re part of a team. Wesupport each other and motivate each other, and although we didn’t realize it at the time, this support wasstrengthening our foundation to be able to persevere through the challenges of 2020 together.Whether good times or challenging times, thanks to the dedication and commitment of our supporters, board, members, and staff, the community can always count on the Y.HEALTHYLIVINGSOCIALRESPONSIBILITYSincerely,
