BFS Cargo E-NewsletterVol. 11/2015Handling with CARE Customer Attentive Responsive EfficientDear Friends,“During thismonth we willbe holdingworkshops forAgents onE-Weight Slip.”Welcome to the November edition of the BFS CargoE-Newsletter.Unfortunately October was another very disappointingmonth for Exports from BKK. Imports were up againthough and we see a growing trend with the gapbetween Exports and Imports decreasing. What startedDavid Ambridgeoff several years ago as 75% Export and 25% ImportGeneral Manager - Cargohas now narrowed to 58% Export and 42% Import. This is a very interesting dynamic and we will continue to watch this very closely. There seemsto be very little likelihood of a pre-Xmas boom so far unless something changes very quickly.During this month we will be holding workshops for Agents on E-Weight Slip. We want to explainthe clear benefits of this to you all. You can all save money, people, and time by using thisfacility with BFS so please contact Customer Care if you would like to come along. As I look forward to 2016 just a little I want to let you all know that BFS will again be investingto make our Cargo Terminal better and more efficient. Another ASRS will be installed during2016 at considerable cost to BFS. We need this as Import volumes are growing year on year andImport Cargo continues to sit inside the Cargo Terminal for 2-3 days before it is Customs clearedand collected. I’m still not sure why it sits here that long but please be assured that BFS is hereand ready to take care of those shipments for you. Also in 2016 we will be looking into systems to control Truck Queueing and Door Allocation atBFS. With all Export Cargo arriving here unknown, not weighed, not measured, and not labelledthe time each truck sits at one of our doors is excessive. If these ancient practices could bechanged we could serve more Customers even quicker than we can today. Until that happensthough we will find ways to control the flow of Trucks more effectively in 2016. The FZO hasadvised us many times that they plan to build and operate a Truck Park in the Free zone areabut we have not seen any progress to date. We will therefore do something ourselves. Please enjoy this month’s editionRegards,David AmbridgeGeneral Manager – Bangkok Flight Services Cargo (WFS affiliate)BFS Cargo E-Newsletter Vol. 11/2015www.BangkokFlightServices.com

BFS Cargo E-NewsletterWhat is Consignments ‘Ready for Carriage’?John YepDirector – Cargo ServiceDeliveryAs you may know that consignments ‘Ready for Carriage’,according to IATA The Air Cargo Tariff Manual, section 2.3.2Consignments Ready for Carriage, is shipment which is deliveredwith accurate & complete AWB as well as other relatedDocumentation for immediate transportation. Unfortunately, there’s no any improvement in Agent delivering cargo “Ready forcarriage” but still prefer to deliver cargo as habitually done. What is happening now: Ready for Carriage Cargo process:Freight Forwarders deliver cargo at Cargo Terminal BFS weight each piece/skidand issue Weight Slip Freight Forwarder return to their office for completedocument Get back to Cargo Terminal to submit the DocumentFreight Forwarders prepare Cargo which already weighted/dimensioned withcomplete tagged & labelled Bring Cargo & complete Document to CargoTerminal which BFS will only cross check weight/dimension/pieceThe difference between current local procedureand Ready for Carriage is clearly explained asabove that Freight Forwarders could save theircost and less time consuming. Ready forCarriage will be delivered in MAWB level whichwe can right away transfer for further loadingprocess while presently, most of cargo wasbrought in separately at HAWB level whichit take more time to close flight. In term ofDocument, as previously mentioned, Readyfor Carriage could save your time as cargo anddocument are handed over to Cargo Terminalat the same time while current practice it takesanothe children from kindergarten to secondary education inSamutprakarn province. Most of the school’s equipment and facilities are in poor conditions andthe school has no manpower nor budget to fix them. The team from BFS fixed many of theschool equipment and facilities. This BFS CSR activity was set up with aims to demonstrate social responsibility and help lessprivileged children and improve the conditions of schools in remoted area in the hope to helpimprove their chances of breaking into the world of responsible adults in the future.BFS Cargo E-Newsletter Vol. 11/2015www.BangkokFlightServices.com
