45Aboutthe ProgrammeThe Master of Arts in Development Studiesand Diplomacy is an interdisciplinary and holisticprogramme that will broaden student’s knowledgein the field of development studies, sustainabilityand diplomacy and equip them with the required softskills for a successful international career in any ofthese areas of expertise. It is offered both online andin blended/hybrid format (online face-to-face on theUPEACE campus in San Jose, Costa Rica).Students can also participate in an optional field visitto Geneva, Switzerland, and The Hague, theNetherlands.During this programme, students will analyse thedifferent dimensions of development includingenvironmental, social, economic and humandimensions as well as the theory and practice ofdiplomacy in the 21st century. Students will alsoattend skills development sessions that are designedto support their professional career andemployability. Careers in this field can be very broad.Prospective employers include governments,internationalorganizations, development agencies, academia andthe private sector.Students can also pursue a shorter programme suchas the Certificate in Development Studies andDiplomacy (online) or sign up for individual onlinecourses within the framework of the Master of Artsin Development Studies and Diplomacy and theCertificate in Development Studies and Diplomacy.
