DEPOSITSThe College operates a two-tiered fee structure offering parents the option of paying a lowerdeposit and normal annual fees or, alternatively, a higher deposit and lower annual fees.Deposit payment termsYou are required to pay the deposit as follows: R5 000 within five (5) business days of receipt of confirmation from Uplands of acceptance, The balance of the deposit on or before 30 July of the year preceding your child’s entry.Deposits in respect of confirmed offers made after 30 July for entry in 2022 are payableimmediately. For entry in 2021, the full deposit is payable immediately.Please refer to the remainder of this document as it serves as a detailed guide in respect ofannual fees and additional charges. If there is any provision in this document that you do notfully understand, please contact the Finance Department: e-mail debtors@uplands.co.za ortelephone: 27 13 751 3141.COMPULSORY SUPPLEMENTARY CHARGESEmergency Medical Insurance: R240Annual charge for insurance to cover pupils in the event of accidental injury at school or at aschool event up to R100 000 for expenses not covered by a medical aid. An excess of R1 500is applicable.ADDITIONAL CHARGESRegistration feeA non-refundable registration fee of R400 (four hundred Rand) is payable upon receipt of anapplication.Grade campsGrade camps are held annually for pupils in Grades 3 to 11 and attendance is compulsory.Parents will be informed of the cost and venue prior to the camp taking place.Independent Examinations Board (IEB) examination feesFees are set by the IEB and are revised annually. Currently, the Grade 12 examination fee isR7 364. This will be charged to a parent’s School fee statement in the January of the year yourchild enters Grade 12.Sport and cultural camps / toursAdditional charges are levied to cover transport and accommodation for sports and culturalcamps / tours. Parents will be advised of the nature and cost of these events as and when theyoccur. Once permission for your child to attend the camp or tour has been provided, the cost willbe charged to your school account. In the event that School fees are not up to date, Uplands willrequire payment in advance before your child will be allowed to attend the camp or tour.

TransportBoarders may be charged for transport to external appointmentsExamination accommodationsShould your child be deemed a candidate for an individual informal or formal examinationaccommodation (i.e. a reader or a scribe), the services of a one-on-one invigilator will be billed ata predetermined hourly rate.SCHOOL FEE STATEMENTSSchool fee statements are emailed to parents at the end of each month. It is the parent’sresponsibility to inform the Finance Department if statements have not been received by email.PAYMENT TERMSFees are due quarterly, in advance, at the beginning of each term.Compulsory supplementary charges are due at the beginning of the year. Any additional chargesare due on presentation of the statement.Arrangements can be made to pay fees in ten monthly instalments.Please email debtors@uplands.co.zaSETTLEMENT DISCOUNTA 3,5% discount is offered if annual school and boarding fees are settled in full by latest31 January.DEFAULT ON PAYMENTSAny default on payments will be handled in accordance with the Uplands Debtors’ Policy. Anelectronic copy of the Debtors’ Policy is available on request.METHODS OF PAYMENTDebit ordersUplands administers a debit order system as a method of payment should your school feestatement not be paid annually in advance.The form can be requested by emailing debtors@uplands.co.za. Please use your school feeaccount number as the reference when making your payment and email proof of payment todebtors@uplands.co.za.Due to banking charges levied on our account when cash is deposited, a fee equivalent to 1% of thecash deposit will be charged to your account.

ChequesCheque payments are not accepted.Credit card paymentsCredit card payments are accepted. We do not accept Diners Club or American Express.Foreign depositsPlease note that any bank charges on foreign deposits will be for the parent’s account. Your bankmust use your school fees account number as a reference. Please also email a copy of the bankdeposit to debtors@uplands.co.za to ensure that the deposit is correctly allocated.RETURNED DEBIT ORDERSIn the event of debit orders returned due to insufficient funds or for any other reason, anadministrative fee of R100 will be levied. Only EFTs or credit card payments will be accepted asfurther payment on accounts for which three debit orders were returned by the bank.NOTICE PERIODSParents are reminded that in terms of the agreement signed by them at the time of their child’senrolment, they are required to give a term’s notice in writing (addressed to the Head of theSchool) of their intention to withdraw their child from Uplands or from boarding.
