The new face-lift allows youto easily search the Bulletin along with adding quickerand easier access to IU Kokomo’s main web pages. Thecatalog has also become an annual publication, allowingchanges to programs and courses to occur more quickly.Each student needs to follow the bulletin that coincideswith the year he or she entered IU Kokomo and eachstudent should follow the major program requirements thatare in effect when they were admitted to the program.Academic bulletins contain official information related toundergraduate and graduate academic programs andregulations. Bulletins are for information purposes onlyand do not constitute any contractual agreement betweena student and Indiana University. Throughout its 13-year history, itmaintained an average enrollment of about 75 students.In 1945, the Junior College asked Indiana University toassume its function and to establish an extension centerin the former Junior College building at 508 West TaylorStreet. In 1947, to accommodate steadily increasingenrollment, the university purchased the SeiberlingKingston mansion at 1200 West Sycamore Street.IU Kokomo’s main classroom building was occupied in1965 on South Washington Street. This process gives faculty information on howeffectively academic programs are meeting their goalsfor student learning and provides guidance for enhancingthose programs. In addition, ongoing, systematicassessment is required for the campus to continue tomeet the accreditation standards of the North CentralAssociation/Higher Learning Commission.The faculty in the various degree programs develop thestudent learning outcomes for their programs and areresponsible for assessing those outcomes. As part of thisprocess, students will be asked to participate in activitiessuch as surveys, standardized exams, or focus groups. Students in the School of Business areresponsible for planning their own programs and formeeting degree requirements. However, they are strongly encouraged tomeet with an academic advisor to discuss their plan andstanding in the program.Degree ApplicationsCandidates for a degree are expected to meet properdeadlines for the filing of degree applications. Graduationdates at IU Kokomo occur in December, May, and August.Students planning to graduate in December must apply fortheir degrees by September 15. The application deadlinefor May and August graduations is January 15.Credit Hour RequirementThe minimum number of credit hours required for thebaccalaureate degree is 120 in courses meeting thevarious requirements stated in this bulletin. Thirty of thelast 45 credit hours must be taken at IU Kokomo, and atleast 50 percent of business credits must be earned atIndiana University.August 25, 2021Credit DeadlineAll credits for a degree, except that for the work of thecurrent semester, must be on record at least one monthprior to the conferring of the degrees.Grade Point Average RequirementsA minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (C) isrequired for graduation. Grades of A , A, A–, B , B, B–,C , C, C–, D , D, D–, and F are included in the gradepoint average. Students may replace a grade by retaking aclass (up to 3 classes totaling 9 credit hours) and filing theappropriate form. A grade of at least C must be earned inall Business and Economics classes, and at least a C- inall general education requirements.Academic StandingStudents who consistently maintain a grade point averageof 2.0 (C) or higher in both their cumulative and semesterrecords are considered to be in good standing. If a studentwithdraws or earns less than a C three times in any of therequired courses in the business degree, they will not beconsidered in good academic standing. This will result inthe removal of the student from the School of Business. Inthe case of pre-business students, they will not be eligibleto apply for admission to the School of Business.Statute of LimitationsStudents who are candidates for the Bachelor of Sciencein Business degree have the right to complete degreerequirements specified by the bulletin in effect at thetime they matriculated at Indiana University, provided (1)that the necessary courses are available, and (2) thatno more than eight calendar years have elapsed sincematriculation. In the event that courses are not availableor more than eight years have elapsed, students mustconsult with a Business advisor to update their programsto the bulletin currently in effect.Junior College, Community College, andCorrespondence Study CreditsThe maximum number of credit hours allowed froma community or junior college is 64 unless otherwiseapproved in an articulation agreement. Online courses atthe 300-400 level must be taken at an AACSB accreditedschool and be approved by the undergraduate advisor.Students seeking exceptions to the above policy mustobtain the written approval of the dean of the School ofBusiness. Thirty of the last forty-five credit hours must betaken at IU Kokomo.Transfer-Credit PolicyStudents who transfer from approved colleges to pursueundergraduate study in the School of Business must takerequired courses if they have not had equivalent coursesin the school from which they transferred. Courses inadvanced business and economics subjects that arenot open to IU Kokomo freshmen and sophomores, butthat are taken in other institutions in the freshman andsophomore years, are not accepted as equivalents ofIndiana University courses unless the student passesvalidation examinations in such subjects. Coursestransferring in as 300- and 400-level business oreconomics courses must have been taken at an AACSBaccredited school. Business and economics coursestaken at other institutions more than ten years prior to the

August 25, 2021student’s acceptance into the school are not accepted asequivalents of Indiana University courses. Only gradesearned at Indiana University count toward a student’sgrade point average. Grades from other universitiestransfer as credits only, although transfer grades appearon the credit transfer report. The School of Businessdoes not accept credit from educational programs of noncollegiate organizations. In some cases, the experiencefrom these programs may qualify a student for a specialcredit examination.Requirements for a Second Bachelor DegreeHolders of a bachelor degree in areas other than businessmay seek a second bachelor degree in business throughthe School of Business. The candidate will, of course, beexempted from any requirements already fulfilled in thefirst bachelor degree. Normally, the holder of a bachelordegree wanting to pursue further education is encouragedto seek admission to graduate study. In certain cases,however, a student may be admitted for a secondbachelor degree. When such admission is granted, thecandidate must earn at least 30 additional credit hoursin residence and meet the requirements of the School ofBusiness and of the chosen concentration. Students whohave been awarded the Bachelor of Science in Businessat Indiana University may register as special students tomeet the requirements of another concentration, but theycannot receive the same degree a second time.Bachelor of Science in BusinessThe curriculum for the Bachelor of Science in Businessconsists of four parts: (1) general education requirements,(2) pre-business courses, (3) business core courses and(4) major courses.1.
