SOATB:The Special Operations Aviation Training Battalion (SOATB) conducts Armyspecial operations aviation (ARSOA) individual training and provides educationto produce crew members and support personnel with basic and advancedqualifications for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne)and the greater special operations forces (SOF) enterprise in over 32 programsof instruction.1-1 (A):"Individual medical readiness (IMR) items (including periodic healthassessment and current dental exam), physical profile documentation andpost-deployment health reassessment (PDHRA) will be completed in accordancewith AR 600-8-101, Paragraph 3-2D(7) and DA Form 5123, Item 4B; and TRADOCRegulation 350-18, Paragraphs 3-21C, 3-21D, and 3-22. Soldiers with temporaryprofiles, which are not a result of operational deployments and prevent fullparticipation in a course, will be removed or deferred from school attendanceconsideration by their immediate commanders: until the temporary profiles areremoved (See AR 350-1, Paragraph 3-14B)."1

This message will expire no later than one year after release.2. This message applies to active Army enlisted Soldiers only.3. Effective immediately, Commanders of Army commands, Army service componentcommands, and direct reporting units will publicize the ARSOF Program andensure Soldiers have access to ARSOF in-service recruiters and recruiterbriefings.Additionally,Commanders will work with ARSOF in-service recruiters to scheduleassessment and selection course dates to meet both unit and ARSOF operationalrequirements and the Soldier's career goals. After being scheduled for the Special Forces Assessment and Selection(SFAS), Civil Affairs Assessment and Selection (CAAS), PsychologicalOperations Assessment and Selection (POAS), Ranger Assessment and SelectionProgram(RASP) and the Enlisted Combat Skills Training (ECST) Courses, soldiersshould only be deleted, deferred or otherwise prevented from attendingtraining for the following reasons:(1) If they become disqualified or ineligible to attend the course inaccordance with AR 614-200. The request must be endorsed by the Soldier'sfirst lieutenant colonel/O-5 in the chain of command and submitted to theSpecial Operations Recruiting Battalion (SORB), 75th Ranger RegimentRecruiting Detachment, or 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR)Recruiting Team, as appropriate.(2) For operational reasons, the request must be approved by the first GeneralOfficer in the Soldiers chain of command, after coordination with theSORB,75th Ranger Regiment Recruiting Detachment, or 160th Special OperationsAviation Regiment(SOAR) Recruiting Team, as appropriate, to gauge the impactof the deletion or deferment action.2

b. After being placed on assignment instructions to ARSOF, Soldiers shouldonly be deleted, deferred or otherwise prevented from reporting for thefollowing reasons:(1) If they become disqualified or ineligible for the assignment. Requestsmust be approved by the first O5 Commander in the chain of command, aftercoordination with the SORB,75th Ranger Regiment Recruiting Detachment, or160th SOAR Recruiting Team, as appropriate,to gauge the impact of the deletionor deferment action.(2) If approved, the request is forwarded through the Military PersonnelDivision (MPD) / Personnel Reassignment Work Center for submission to theHuman Resources Command (HRC). These signature authorities may not be furtherdelegated.(3) For operational reasons, the request must be approved by the first GeneralOfficer in the Soldier's chain of command, after coordination with the SORB,75th Ranger Regiment Recruiting Detachment, or 160th SOAR Recruiting Team, asappropriate, to gauge the impact of the deletion or deferment action. Ifapproved, it must be mailed to:Commanding General, U.S. Army Human Resources Command(AHRC-EPO-P), 1600 Spearhead Division Avenue, Fort Knox, KY 40122-5303,or emailed to usarmy.knox.hrc.mbx.epmd-psa-branch@mail.mil for deferment ofany associated reassignment. As anenlisted candidate for entrance into the 160th Special Operations AviationRegiment (Abn) you must completely read all instructions below. Failure toread these instructions may negatively affect your in-processing into EnlistedCombat Skills.2.1 (A). If you are listed in ATRRS as a "W", or "Wait", you are stillREQUIRED to report to Ft. Campbell, KY. NLT your assigned reporting date.This reporting requirement applies to ALL soldiers, whether CONUS or OCONUS,irrespective of your TDY status. All funding for training will be provided bythe shared LOA. (See para. 2.6.c.(1) below.)2.1 (B). Physical Readiness:Enlisted Combat Skills is a mentally and physically demanding selectioncourse. In addition to evaluated ruck road marches from 4 to 8 miles, you willreceive an evaluation on a Night Stalker Fitness Assessment(NSFA)and HT/WTshortly after your arrival at Reception & Integration (R&I) Platoon, A CoSOATB. To help you prepare for the physical challenges in Enlisted CombatSkills follow the workout 6E5 hM9yy08afCA9tMaxLMev6lMNDnLcNote: You may not be able to access this folder from a government network.The Night Stalker Fitness Assessment consists of three Army Combat FitnessTest events, which are the hand release push-up-arm extension, leg tuck andthe two mile run. The minimum standard for passing Enlisted Combat Skills isthe "significant" standard in each event. For an explanation of events andgrading standards see: www.army.mil/acft/. Failure to meet the "significant"standard in any NSFA event will result in non-completion of Enlisted CombatSkills.Failure of the HT/WT will result in you not gaining entrance into EnlistedCombat Skills and release from the course to the needs of the Army, flaggedIAW AR 600-8-19, and being subject to being chaptered IAW Army regulation.Additionally, your Academic Evaluation Report will reflect noncompliance withAR 600-9 in accordance with ALARACT message 075/2007.If you have a medical profile, be advised that we do not give an alternateNSFA. If you have a medical profile that prohibits successful completion ofthe NSFA, 4 mile run, and 4 to 8 mile ruck marches, you should contact 160thRS1- Strength Management at comm (270) 798-1501 and request to defer yourassignment to Enlisted Combat Skills.4

2.2. Family Readiness:Enlisted Combat Skills is very time-intensive course and missing multipletraining hours may result in your dismissal from the course. As a result youwill not be granted time to take care of personal business during the courseexcept in certain circumstances. Ensure as much of your personal business(Spouse and children have valid ID cards and are on DEERS, your driverslicense, auto registration and insurance is valid, your CAC is valid and youknow your CAC PIN, power of attorney if needed, etc.) is taken care of, ifpossible, before you arrive at Reception & Integration (R&I) Platoon, A CoSOATB for entrance into the course.2.3. Attrition:On average, 35% of all students assigned to Enlisted Combat Skills do notgraduate the course. As a result of this, unless you are a PCS Student andbeing permanently assigned to Ft. Campbell, do not take any actions, forexample, movement of family members and/or household goods, buying or rentinga home, obtain a new job for your spouse, etc. until you have graduated fromthe course.2.4. Assignment Categories:Upon your arrival at Reception & Integration (R&I) Platoon, A Co SOATB forin-processing, you will be assigned to USAJFKSWCS Student Detachment at FtCampbell, KY (W1B06P) in one of four assignment categories: Permanent Changeof Station (PCS), TDY and Return (TDY-R), TDY Enroute (TDY-E), or Ft. CampbellATRRS (FC ATRRS). It is very important that you know your assignment category.Read either your orders, DD1610, DTS travel authorization printout, or ATRRSemail school notice carefully. There is no excuse for not knowing to whichassignment category you belong. Non-compliance with travel policies will be atthe Soldiers personal expense. Explanations are listed in paragraphs 5, 6, and7 below.BE ADVISED: Every Soldier (regardless of PCS Status/location) on assignment tothe 160th SOAR must report and process thru Reception & Integration (R&I)Platoon, A Co SOATB, Fort Campbell, KY and complete Enlisted Combat Skillsbefore reporting to 3/160th at Hunter Army Airfield, GA or 4/160th at JointBase Lewis-McChord, WA. If your orders directly assign you to 3/160th SOAR atHunter Army Airfield, GA or 4/160th SOAR at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WAwithout reporting to HSC SOATB. Ft. Campbell, KY first, immediately contactRS1- Strength Management at comm:(270) 798-1501.2.4. (A) Dining Facility Support:Single Ft. Campbell PCS Students will receive a bag breakfast and lunch from the Dining Facility while inECS training. All other categories of students must provide their own breakfast and lunch while in training.It’s recommended that you bring an insulated “lunch box” or cooler to training daily, since we do notprovide a refrigerator for food storage. Enlisted Combat Skills is a physically demanding course, ensureyou provide yourself enough calories on a daily basis.2.5. PCS Students: PCS Students are defined as Soldiers traveling withassignment orders to Fort Campbell, KY.5

a. Special Instructions for PCS Students Only(1) All PCS Students must first report to the 1LT Robert Kalsu ReplacementCompany (20th Replacement) located at Building 6916, Desert Storm Ave and 34thStreet prior to reporting to Enlisted Combat Skills. Please refer to s/Newcomers.aspx for the mostaccurate information regarding your in-processing.(2) In-processing Ft Campbell takes 2-3 weeks. Students who PCS to Ft Campbellshould plan to arrive to Ft Campbell a minimum of 3 weeks prior to the coursereport date. In-Processing shall be complete prior to training; there is notime in the training schedule for in-processing.(3) Soldiers must bring a copy of their DA Form 31, PCS Orders, Personnel File(201), medical records and dental records when they check-in.-Check-in is done 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.-All Soldiers reporting between 0530-1700 must be in Army Uniform.-Replacement company cadre will coordinate in-processing. Billeting will beprovided for single Soldiers below the rank of sergeant.-Soldiers accompanied by their Families and Soldiers above the rank ofSergeant are authorized billeting in the Turner Guest House on aspace-available basis.-All Soldiers must report by the thru date on their leave forms.-If you are authorized permissive TDY, you must report to the housing officeon the day your permissive TDY begins with your DA Form 31, to be signed ontopermissive TDY.-The Kalsu Replacement Company can be reached at (270) 798-2813.(4) All PCS Students should contact their local Transportation Office and haveall household goods shipped to Ft. Campbell.(5) Upon reporting to SOATB, unaccompanied/single enlisted Soldiers will stayin SOATB barracks until completion of Green Platoon training.(6) Basic Allowance for Separate Rations (BAS):All PCS student Married Soldiers will receive BAS once assigned and arerequired to purchase their own rations. PCS Student single Soldiers will beprovided rations or access to the Dining Facility.(7) After in-processing Ft. Campbell, PCS students will be picked up fromKalsu Replacement by R&I Plt, A Co SOATB Cadre and transported to R&I Plt, ACo SOATB for Enlisted in-processing.(8) Required Documents:All reporting PCS students must bring the following documents with them whenthey report to Reception & Integration (R&I) Platoon, A Co SOATB: Five (5)copies of your PCS Orders and all amendments (PCS, TDY-E students), seven (7)copies of your ERB, two (2)copies of your current EOM LES, two (2) copies ofyour birth certificate or naturalization paperwork (if applicable),one (1)copy of SGLV printout (MIL CONNECT), one copy of DD93 (IPERMS), valid driverslicense, and if you have a POV at Ft. Campbell with you, current registrationand proof of insurance. In addition you will need your functioning CAC card6

with PIN, and be able to access both Enterprise email and MyPay. Ensure youbring linen as it will not be issued.2.6. TDY Students:a. TDY-R Students: TDY-R Students are defined as Soldiers traveling from theirpermanent duty station on a DD1610 or DTS travel authorization printout andwill return to their permanent duty station upon completion of training. TDY-RStudents will report directly to HSC SOATB for Enlisted Combat Skillstraining, and once complete with Enlisted Combat Skills and any follow-ontraining will report back to their installation to out-process prior to PCS toeither Ft. Campbell, KY; Hunter Army Airfield/Ft. Stewart, GA; or Joint BaseLewis-McChord, WA. On a case by case basis enlisted Soldiers may be ordered toPCS to Hunter AAF or JBLM then attend training TDY-R.b. TDY-E Students: TDY-E students are defined as Soldiers traveling withassignment orders from IET/AIT and will report directly to HSC SOATB forEnlisted Combat Skills and any follow-on training. Upon completion of trainingTDY-E Soldiers will proceed to either Hunter Army Airfield/ Ft. Stewart, GA orJoint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.c. Special Instructions for TDY Students Only (TDY Enroute and TDY Return)(1) DTS Line of Accounting and Routing:Students attending training TDY-R will require cross-org authorization to theGreen Platoon Line of Accounting (LOA). Contact the Resource Management Officeat (270) 798-3503 or (270) 412-9682 to obtain the FYXX Enlisted GPLOA.Routing: Once students receive the LOA, they can access it under X-Org Linesof Accounting in DTS. Authorizations must be routed through the "A Co X-Org"routing list for approval.Other Authorizations: The following are required to be selected under OtherAuthorizations on DTS Orders:-Other (See remarks below). Type in box Green platoon training requiredphysical presence and cannot be conducted via SVTC or by any other means ofelectronic communication.-Variations Authorized-PERSTEMPO Code E(2) DTS Authorization:Upon receipt of this notification, you are required to submit and sign yourDTS Authorization. You must have approved orders NLT 10 days prior to thereport date.(3) Transportation:Transportation from Nashville Airport to Fort Campbell is commerciallyavailable. PLEASE NOTE: TDY students must specifically ask the driver to dropyou off at Bldg. 6922, 38th Street and Desert Storm Avenue. Do not report toKalsu Replacement Company if you are TDY. This is a reimbursable expense-keepyour receipt.(4) Rental Car Policy:Rental cars are NOT authorized for students using SOATB funds. If the Student7

is TDY-R and their home unit is willing to fund a rental car they can addtheir own LOA for this expense in DTS.(5) Driving POV greater than 400 miles:If you are driving your privately owned vehicle (POV) greater than 400 miles,you must complete a constructed travel worksheet and attach as asubstantiating record in your DTS authorization. You will only be reimbursedthe lesser of the two transportation modes. The primary mode of travel forSOATB is Air.(6) In and Around Mileage:If you are TDY-E or TDY-R and drive your POV to Ft. Campbell, you areauthorized in and around mileage and will be reimbursed for up to 15 miles perday. You must attach an in-and-around mileage log (which we will provide you)when filing your DTS voucher.(7) Billeting:No lodging costs will be incurred by enlisted Students while TDY to FortCampbell. Per-diem for lodging should be zeroed out in DTS.(8) Pay Entitlements:If you are TDY-E you may be entitled to receive dislocation allowance (DLA)and a travel advance. You must request these entitlements before you leaveyour current duty station. SOATB strongly advises you to request theseentitlements before you leave your duty station. There is no way to requestthese entitlements while you are TDY to Fort Campbell.(9) Per-diem, Meals & Incidental Expenses:All TDY Soldiers will receive the Government Meal Rate of 18.90 incidentalrate daily upon their assignment to Hold Platoon and will have access to theDining Facility. While in Enlisted Green Platoon training TDY Soldiers willreceive the commercial meal rate of 55.00 per day, will not have access tothe Dining Facility, and will be required to provide their own rations.(10) Reporting to Enlisted Combat Skills:Report directly to Reception & Integration (R&I) Platoon, A Co SOATB locatedat Bldg. 6922, 38th Street and Desert Storm Avenue, Ft. Campbell, on yourATRRS report date. Reporting during duty hours (0700-1700) is highlyencouraged and will help ensure efficient in-processing. Soldiers arrivingafter duty hours will begin in-processing upon arrival, and finishin-processing the following morning. All Soldiers will report in dutyuniform, regardless of reporting time. There are changing rooms available atBldg. 6922 for Soldiers traveling in civilian clothes. There is noguarantee that a Soldier will graduate from training and complete a PCS toFTCKY, HAAF, or JBLM. Soldiers traveling TDY-R will not ship household goodsto their follow-on assignment until after successful completion of training.DO NOT bring your Family to Ft. Campbell. There are no provisions for familymembers while attending Green Platoon Training in a TDY status. Any costincurred will be at the Soldiers own expense.- TDY Enroute: Soldiers attending Combat Skills TDY-E will attend training TDYthen proceed to their permanent duty station upon successful completion oftraining. DO NOT have your household goods sent to Ft. Campbell. DO NOT bringyour Family to Ft. Campbell. There are no provisions for Family members whileattending Green Platoon Training in a TDY status. Any cost incurred will be atthe Soldiers own expense. There is no guarantee you will complete EGP trainingand complete a PCS to HAAF or JBLM. As a result you should do the following:Single Soldiers with 500 lbs. or less of household goods and a POV: Contactyour local transportation office and arrange for a DITY shipment of theseitems in your POV to Ft. Campbell and then onto HAAF or JBLM as appropriate.Single Soldiers with more than 500 lbs. of household goods or without a POV:Contact your local transportation office and arrange to have these itemsplaced in storage until you complete EGP, if not possible, ship them to eitherHAAF or JBLM as appropriate.Married Soldiers who reside in on-post housing: Contact your local housingoffice and request an extension to remain in on-post housing until youcomplete EGP. After graduation you will return to clear your on-post housing.Married Soldiers who reside in off-post Housing: Do not move your family andhousehold goods until you complete EGP. Soldiers who have to move prior tocompleting EGP and ship your household goods in advance should arrange forthem to remain in storage during your training.2.7. Fort Campbell ATRRS Students:a. FC ATRRS Students arrive with ATRRS email school notice from other localFt. Campbell units. FC ATRRS students will report directly to Reception &9
