History of the SchoolThe school was founded in spring 2010 as a branch ofConcorde Career College, Kansas City, MO. The facility offers administrative offices, aLearning Resource Center, computer labs, and astudent lounge. In addition, the school provides variouslearning labs and classrooms to support theeducational objectives of each program.General FacilitiesAmong the various classrooms, laboratories, and otherfacilities provided for students are (varies program): Computer laboratories equipped with wordprocessing software, office management software,and equipment for self-paced keyboarding andtyping instruction; A dental laboratory equipped with dentaloperatories, dental x-ray units, and teaching and xray mannequins; A dental x-ray darkroom equipped for theprocessing of dental x-rays; Medical laboratories equipped with examiningtables, mannequins, and simulated examinationrooms; A nursing skill laboratory with individual patientcare stations and that is equipped with equipmentand supplies to assist students to prepare forpatient care activities with the scope of practice ofthe licensed nurse; A physical therapist assistant laboratory treatmentarea, including treatment tables, assessment tools,and medical supplies; A respiratory laboratory equipped with therapeuticequipment; Surgical technology labs with a simulatedoperating room and scrub area; A Learning Resource Center (LRC), providing aquiet area where students may refer to variouspublications, journals, technical manuals, andreference books. Students are allowed to checkout books from the LRC for purposes of research,review, or report preparation. Books may bechecked out with the library supervisor. Studentsare also able to complete homework assignmentswith the use of online computers.Students will be held responsible and accountablefor books and other items belonging to ConcordeCareer Colleges, Inc., and the LRC. days (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays).Students who have checked out a book from theLRC will have three business days to use the itemin its educational capacity. If the book is neededfor longer than the three-day checkout, it may berechecked at the discretion of the AcademicTechnology and Media Coordinator. If the book isthen not returned within the three-day period, acharge of .50 per day will be assessed. If thestudent loses the book, the student will beresponsible for paying the original list price for thelost book. If the student damages the book, thestudent can be charged a minimum of 10, up tofull, original list price, depending on the damageand ability to reuse the book. Students are placedon Records Hold until all LRC materials are eitherreturned or the replacement cost of any damagedor lost materials is paid. A nonsmoking student lounge, which includesvending machines and microwaves, is available forstudent use.EquipmentEquipment and instruments are available to instructstudents in the skills they will need in their chosencareers. Concorde students acquire knowledge andtechnical skills through demonstrations, actualoperation of equipment, and the practice of techniques.Among the major items of equipment available toConcorde students are the following (by program):Dental Hygiene ProgramStudents enrolled in the Dental Hygiene program haveaccess to a completely equipped and functioningdental clinic. Included in the clinical facility are fourradiography units, a panoramic x-ray unit, and 12 fullyequipped operatories. Students learn various technicalskills in the lab before treating a patient. Some specialequipment included are ultrasonic scalers, modeltrimmers, intraoral cameras, both digital and traditionalx-rays, autoclaves, and automatic processors.Mannequins are used for instrument skill andinstruction. Personal computers with appropriatesoftware are also used for the benefit of the student.Diagnostic Medical SonographyCandidates must meet the minimum overall HESI A2assessment score listed above. In addition, candidatesmust meet the minimum assessment score on each ofthe three individual sections of the assessment. Theminimum assessment score for each section is 10points lower than the required HESI A2 overall scorelisted above.Medical Assistant ProgramEquipment includes stethoscopes,sphygmomanometers, examination and treatmenttables, simulated examination rooms, autoclaves,otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, electrocardiographmachines, microscopes, centrifuges, teachingmannequins, and other miscellaneous teaching aides.Cardiovascular Sonography ProgramMedical Office Administration ProgramEquipment includes hospital beds, various ultrasoundscanning systems, ultrasound transducers (abdominal,vascular, cardiac), ABI scanning equipment, simulationtraining computers, medical record software, medicalultrasound printer and scanning simulationmannequins.Computer labs are equipped with computers that runcurrent operating systems to run word processing,keyboarding, and medical office and billing softwareapplications.Dental Assistant ProgramEquipment includes treatment tables, electromagneticand electrical stimulation devices, biofeedback units,ultrasound, traction, thermal modalities and adaptiveequipment. Therapeutic exercise equipment includes atreadmill, parallel bars, exercise balls, free weights,balance boards, and other devices that promote fineand gross motor skills. Assistive devices includewheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, and orthotics/braces. Assessment equipment includes stethoscopes,goniometers, postural screening boards, pulseoximeters, spirometers, and other teaching aids.There is a dental lab completely equipped to functionin the capacity as a dental office. The lab has four dentaloperatories and two dental x-ray units. In addition, thelab is equipped with a panoramic machine, completedarkroom facilities, and four teaching x-ray Dextermannequins. Dental Assistant students also haveaccess to computers that are stored in each operatory.The computers provide information for students tolearn mounting x-rays, case studies, and charting. Inaddition, there are autoclaves, curing lights,amalgamators, model trimmers, sterilization equipment,dental vibrators, and other miscellaneous equipmentavailable.Physical Therapist Assistant ProgramRespiratory Therapy ProgramThis comprehensive laboratory is equipped withoxygen devices (cannulas, masks, cylinders,concentrators), aerosol/humidity devices (small/largevolume nebulizers, regulators, flowmeters), lungexpansion devices (intermittent positive pressure2021-2022 San Antonio Catalog Publication Date: April 23, 20226

breathing machines, incentive spirometers, continuouspositive airway pressure machines), mechanicalventilators (respirators), airway maintenance devices(suction machines, intubation tools, artificial airways),and ancillary equipment (arterial blood gas equipment,oximetry, capnography, pulmonary function equipment,mannequins), plus a library complete with respiratoryand respiratory-related medical journals, texts, andaudiovisual equipment.Surgical Technology ProgramA lab equipped with two fully operational operatorieswith surgical instruments, machinery and lighting,completely equipped and fully functional for trainingpurposes.Audiovisual AidsConcorde’s programs are supported with referencebooks, charts, field trips, demonstrations, and otherteaching aids. Admissionsthe awarding of an associate degree, butthat are acceptable for full credit towarda bachelor’s degree at any institution; or3. Enrollment in a bachelor’s degreeprogram where at least 60 semester ortrimester credit hours or 72 quartercredit hours have been successfullycompleted, including credit hourstransferred into the bachelor’s degreeprogram. Foreign transcripts (high school or college)accompanied by foreign evaluation report andtranslation (if applicable).Entrance RequirementsProspective students are encouraged to review thiscatalog prior to signing an Enrollment Agreement.The school reserves the right to reject applicants and/or rescind eligibility for an applicant to begin classes ifall general and selective admissions requirements arenot successfully completed within the requiredtimeframe.Admission to any one program does not automaticallyqualify a student for admission into any other program.If a student wishes to apply to another program in thefuture, the individual must independently meet all theadmissions requirements in place for that program atthe time of the future enrollment. The student will alsobe subject to all selection procedures in place foradmittance into the other program. Admittance into theother program is not guaranteed.(1)General Admissions RequirementsAcceptable documentation of high school graduationmust be received by the Institution prior to the student’sfirst scheduled class of the program. It is the student’sresponsibility to provide acceptable documentation ofhigh school graduation or its equivalency, as well as anyadditional documentation that may be needed tosupport the validity of the documentation. Any studentwho does not provide valid documentation of highschool graduation or its equivalent within thistimeframe will be unregistered from all classes and hisor her program of study.The following items must be successfully completedprior to enrollment and prior to being eligible to sit inclass:All applicants must be citizens, permanent residents, oreligible noncitizens of the United States.Documentation of eligibility status may be required. Foreign TranscriptsAcceptance by the SchoolApplicants indicating that they graduated from a foreignhigh school and have the equivalent of a U.S. secondaryeducation must present original credentials (diploma,transcript, etc.). In addition, documentation from foreigncountries must be translated and certified to be at leastthe equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma.For Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant and MedicalOffice Administration programs, available seats are filledon a first-come-first-served basis once all entrancerequirements have been fulfilled.Coursework taken at a foreign institution (excludingsecondary school documents that are in English andare recognized by the U.S. Department of Education)must be evaluated for equivalence to coursework takenat a United States institution. Concorde only accepts forconsideration the evaluations of foreign courseworkconducted by agencies approved by the NationalAssociation of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES)or Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc.(AICE), which charge applicants directly for theseservices. Listings of approved agencies can be found at: www.naces.org www.aice-eval.orgDocument IntegrityAny forged/altered academic document, foreign ordomestic, submitted by a prospective student will beretained as property of the Institution and will not bereturned to the prospective student. The student willnot be considered for admission.If a student is currently attending, and the Institutionbecomes aware of a forged credential, the followingapplies: If the forged document was used to admit thestudent, and the absence of that credential wouldmake the student inadmissible, the student will bedismissed from the Institution with no earnedcredits awarded; or If the forged document was used to gain transfercredit, the student will be dismissed from theInstitution and any transfer credit already awardedfrom the forged credential will be removed.Personal InterviewThe school requires a personal, on-campus interviewwith each applicant prior to acceptance into anyprogram. The school encourages parents or spouses toattend the interview. This gives applicants and theirfamilies the opportunity to see the campus’s equipmentand facilities and to ask specific questions relating tothe school, the curriculum, and the career trainingbeing considered.
