CAMDEN MARKET45 YEAR S OFREBELLION1 974 – 2 01 9TH E NTHINKING OUTSIDETHE BOXI N PICTU RESOn Thursday 28th February, the Markethosted its first ever sports-themed,positive mental health awareness day.Members of the local community —of all different ages and backgrounds —came together to take part in learningabout and raising awareness of thebeneficial effects that different formsof exercise can have on mental health.Throughout the afternoon, a series ofinteractive workshops, classes and talkstook place, all centred around promotingpositive mental health through sport.The talks and workshops were led by arange of local community groups includingCamden Council, Castlehaven CommunityAssociation, London Sports and Pro TouchSA, and pioneered messages of mentalhealth awareness, inclusivity and wellness.TH I S YEAR , CAMDEN MARKET TU R N E D45 YEARS O LD. The free physical, interactiveclasses ranged from female-only boxingsessions to yoga for beginners, led byTriyoga. TH E NST PATRICK'S DAYAT CAMDEN MARKETFor the third year in a row, the Camden Market cobbles were painted green,as part of our continued collaboration with the London Irish Centre and theMayor of London’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.The 16th March saw Irish musicians who were flown over from Ireland especiallyfor the dayto perform throughout the Market, finishing with a headline act at theDr. Martens Boot Room. The artists and bands that performed on the day were:Video Blue, Swimmers Jackson, LOCKS, Nome King, Aislinn Logan and SICK LOVE.Outside of the music trail, the Irish festivities were in full swing withvisitors adorning themselves in glitter and green face paint courtesy ofEverything 5 Pounds. One Camdenite was so committed to the day theydressed head-to-toe in a green suit!There were also plenty of food specialsfor the occasion, including Oh My Dog!’s'The O'Dogerty Hotdog' featuring CountyMayo mayo and Tayto Flakes; YorkshireBurrito and their Irish Roast Yorkshirepudding wrap with salt beef and traditionalcolcannon. Young Vegans also pulledout the stops with their vegan steak andGuinness pie.For revellers with a sweeter tooth, theCereal Killer Cafe served up their 'LuckyCharms Superbowl' with marshmallowmilk and ice cream. Chin Chin Labs alsohad a special: 'Lucky Four Leaf Clover'ice cream (a unique combination of floralextracts and clover) on top of a fluffychocolate potato cake, swimming inchocolate fudge stout sauce.

N EX TSOLOMONS ' YARDWHAT I S IT?Camden Market is celebrating it’s45th birthday this year, however, we’vedecided to take the party back evenfurther with an immersive, 1920’s-esquepop up on the edge of the Regent’s Canal.Launching Saturday 22nd June,the Solomons’ Yard Weekenders willtransport Londoners back to premarket days, when what is now knownas the Middle Yard played host toAlfie Solomon's (played by Tom Hardyin the TV drama Peaky Blinders)underground operation of whiskysmuggling and gambling .Although the summer’s festivitieswill be far less illicit, they’ll be no lessexciting, and promise a high octane,visual delight and uplifting attack onall the senses. Bringing the cobbledstreets of Camden Market alive as thesun goes down over North London,the series of sunset sessions willfeature live music from legendary DJs,an impressive global street food lineup from a selection of London's beststreet food purveyors, old schoolcocktails, craft beer and bubblesalongside entertainment and lightshows throughout the night.Returning to the Market after threeyears of fine tuning and developingthe concept, Solomons’ Yard promisesmore colour and atmosphere thanever before.
