Alumni NewsClayton Kendrick-Holmes, Springwood Class of 1988Football coach at SUNY Maritime College in New York, graduate of the Naval Academy,and lieutenant commander in the Navy Reserve recently deployed to AfghanistanUli Seit for The New York TimesMaritime College Football Coach, Clayton Kendrick-Holmes (center) celebrates with his teamIt was a whirlwind year for Clayton Kendrick-Holmes. His Maritime College team went 10-0 in the regular season,before they lost in the opening round of the Division III playoffs. Coach Kendrick-Holmes was named the EasternCollegiate Football Conference coach of the year. He was named one of five finalists for the Liberty Mutual Coachof the Year at the Division III level, shortly before he was deployed to Afghanistan in December. His tour isexpected to last about a year. Clayton’s story has drawn attention nationally; he has been featured on NBC’s“Today” show and ESPN’s “SportsCenter.”At Springwood School ,parents walk their childrento class on the firstmorning of their senioryear.
