Please pray for our teens preparing to receive theSacrament of Confirmation! My name is Jolienne Varquez, and Ihave been a part of BlessedSacrament Church my entire life. Iattended BSS from preschool througheighth grade. I live with my parentsand my older brother (who is away atcollege). I am 16 years old andcurrently a sophomore at East PeoriaHigh School where I am involved withtwo sports, music, student council, and volunteer work. Ienjoy meeting and becoming friends with new people. Myfavorite thing is music because I listen to it 24/7! I canrelate to it, dance and sing to it, and just do anything when itis playing in the background. Since I've been baptized andraised Catholic, I am excited to finally receive the Sacramentof Confirmation. I look forward to becoming a full member ofthe Church. I plan to stay involved with my faith and raise myown children in the Catholic Church. I enjoy learningsomething new about my faith every day, sharing the goodnews, and living in God's love all the time with others, knowing that I am never alone. I am choosing St. Valentineas my confirmation saint because he stood up for theCatholic faith, making a stand against strong world leaderswho banned the faith. His example gives me courage to beproud of my faith in front of others. My name is Alex Rochford, and I am asoccer player at Morton HighSchool. All of my siblings are athletesand play soccer too. I have twosisters, Kathryn and Jillian, and abrother named Ben. My favoritehobbies are reading and playinggames. In my church community, I doa bunch of service work and go onretreats. I took part in Catholic HeartWork Camp for the last two years, and I plan to go for twomore years as well. I look forward to continuing myinvolvement in service projects at Blessed Sacrament, aswell as in our community, and experience more retreats andactivities. I am choosing St. Francis of Assisi as myconfirmation saint because St. Francis has always beenspeaking to me in one way or another. In grade school whenwe learned about the saints, his story interested me themost, and every time I need to focus on a saint for a project,he is the first to come to mind. I know he will continue to beimportant in my life and help me as my confirmation saint. My name is Alexander David Hoeft. Ihave two younger brothers and oneolder sister. I play football and runtrack. I'd like to say I'm creative andresourceful. I am also anambassador at PND and am in ManClub (small group and bible study forPND guys). I graduated from BSSand look fondly on my years there. Ialtar serve and help in several service projects. I hope thatafter confirmation, I will be even more in tune with my parishand encourage a sense of community there. I also wouldlike to become a eucharistic minister. I will take the spiritualgifts Blessed Sacrament has given me and share them withothers. I am choosing St. John Neumann as my confirmationsaint because he had a no-excuse attitude and was veryhumble. He climbed mountains, slept in attics and usedkitchen tables for altars to bring the faith to hiscommunity. He always went the extra mile and worked hardto expand the reach of Catholic education. He is a constantreminder to never fall short in our good deeds. My name is Emily Peters, and I am a15 year old sophomore at MortonHigh School. I was born in Englandwhere I lived until I was 9 yearsold. With my dad's job at Caterpillar, our family relocated to the US at theend of December 2011. We lived inColumbia, MO for three and a halfyears before moving to Morton twoand a half years ago. I have met many great friends andshared wonderful experiences here that I will neverforget. We visit our family and friends in the UK every yearand love having them visit us here in Illinois. One of myfavorite activities is marching band, in which I play theflute. We do not have marching bands like this in England! Ienjoyed being a part of the "fall clean-up" at church and lookforward to helping with more service projects in the future. Iam a member of the MHS student council and key club, andI enjoy being involved in projects to better improve ourcommunity. I am choosing St. Veronica as my confirmationsaint because she was brave and kind to wipe the face ofJesus. I admire what she did for Him as He was on His wayto the crucifixion. She is on the sixth station of the cross, sowhen I go to church, I am able to see St. Veronica andremind myself that I want to share the good qualities shehad and shared with Jesus.
