Message from the Class of 2020We expected a hectic, unpredictable coupleof years and we were told from the beginningto be flexible. But we never expected tograduate in the midst of a pandemic andan international movement for Black lives. These events have led us to reflect on whatit means to be physician assistants. We as acollective firmly believe Black Lives Matter. We assert that anti-racism should be thestandard of care and a key principle for us all.To begin to honor that statement, we madea donation in our class name to the Northby Northeast Community Health Center, aclinic dedicated to serving the health needs ofthe Black and African-American communityin Portland through health promotion anddisease prevention. We commit to continuethe work of dismantling systemic racism, starting with healthcare disparities. As PAs,we pledge to uphold the OHSU PA programmission to serve marginalized and medicallyunderserved patients within our respectivecommunities.
