3 Recommendations3 1 SafetyPower on/Power down - Emergency stopTo power on or power down the terminal, connect or disconnect thepower supply from the electric outlet.Power supply unitCAUTIONOnly use the power supply AC/DC provided with Lane/8000or the power provided by a cash register limited powersource (LPS).CAUTIONLithium battery cellThe terminal is fitted with a lithium battery cell which isnot accessible to the user. Only a qualified technician isauthorized to open the unit and change this component.Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrecttype. CAUTIONAn excessive acoustic pressure of headset can involvedeafness!WARNINGWe recommend to the customer to provide guidance to thecardholder as to avoid having his card close to any magnetson the device since the card may be damaged. There is onemagnet in the stylus and another in its holder.3 2 Security of your terminal(tampering attempt detection)Your device fulfils current applicable PCI PTS security requirements.Upon receipt of your terminal you should check for signs of tamperingof the equipment. It is strongly advised that these checks areperformed regularly after receipt. You should check, for example: thatthe keypad is firmly in place; that there is no evidence of unusual wiresthat have been connected to any ports on your terminal or associatedequipment, the chip card reader or any other part of your terminal.Such checks would provide warning of any unauthorised modificationsto your terminal, and other suspicious behaviour of individuals thathave access to your terminal.Your terminal detects any “tampered state”. In this state the terminalwill repeatedly flash the message” Alert Irruption!” and further use ofthe terminal will not be possible. 4 Installation & Connections4 1 Positionning the terminalPlace the terminal with an easy access to an electrical outlet. Placethe terminal away from any heat source and protected from dust,vibrations and electromagnetic radiations (away from video terminals,PC, anti-shoplifting barriers .). The terminal is exclusively made forindoor use.The Lane/8000 device may be mounted on a flat surface, wall, orcustomer stand.CAUTIONDo not place the Lane/8000 device on a PC monitor, adjacentto an electronically active security tag deactivation system,or near other sources of magnetic fields.The Lane/8000 device must be at least 30 centimeters (12 inches)away from an electronically active type of security tag deactivationpad.An electronically active system sends out a powerful andpotentially disruptive signal to deactivate the security tag. Ifthe Lane/8000 device is placed too close to the system’s pad, orplaced above the pad, the product may not work properly.A passive system is a permanent magnet type that does not sendout a signal. Perform the following operations :Unscrew the modules and remove them bothAccess to SAM and Micro SD is now possible.Insert the SAM Card into the slot marked (1), (2) or (3). CAUTIONDo not use any tools when installing or removing the SAMCard or Micro SD.WARNINGDuring this operation, it is necessary to be in an ESDprotected environment. Flip the terminal. There is oneport on the back for power andcommunications.Connect the cable on the terminal.Connect the other end to the powersupply unit and a Host (PC / cashregister ).Plug the power supply into themains.WARNINGThe main port at the back must not be used to connect anHDMI video cable. 5 Daily use5 1 Card reading5 1 1 Swiping a cardInsert the card manually in the reader,magnetic stripe facing the main body of theterminal, and slide the card from the rearto the front in a continuous motion for bestresults.Swipe the card with constant speed, neither too slowlynor too fast, to maximize the reading efficiency and avoidannoying repetitions.WARNINGWe recommend to the customer to provide guidance to thecardholder as to avoid having his card close to any magnetson the device since the card may be damaged. When a contactless transaction is started the first (left hand) statuslight will be lit steadily; this indicates that the contactless is in usebut a card is not being read.When a contactless card is presented to the contactless active zoneduring a transaction the second, third and fourth status lights will belit in turn. The card read is successful when all four status lights arelit and a confirmation tone can be heard.CAUTIONDo not stick any label onto the contactless active zone. Itcan decrease seriously contactless efficiency.CAUTIONAvoid metallic parts around the contactless area.5 2 Signature captureThe signature capture is done with a stylus and acapacitive touchscreen5 3 AudioA speaker is available there is also an Audio jack. 6 MaintenanceCAUTIONBefore making any operations of maintenance in theterminal, make sure that power supply is disconnected.6 1 Cleaning of the terminalFirst of all, unplug all the wires from the terminal.Good rules for proper cleaning of the terminal are :Do not clean the electrical connections.Do not use in any case, solvents, detergents or abrasiveproducts : those materials might damage the plastic orelectrical contacts.Avoid exposing the terminal to the direct rays of the sun.Do not put anything into the slot of the smart card reader6 2 Transport and storageUse the original packaging for storage or returning theunit.Disconnect all cables from the terminal during thetransport.6 3 TroubleshootingDevice is not workingMake sure that the Lane/8000 connector is fully inserted intothe back of the device.Restart the device.If you have another working Lane/8000 device, swap thedevices to determine if the problem is with the device, cable,POS, or power supply.If the Lane/8000 device is directly connected to a host, resetthe host by turning it off and back on again.Lane/8000900030066 R11 000 02/121922Copyright 2019 IngenicoAll rights reserved

Magnetic Card Reader Does Not Work ProperlyWhen sliding the card through the reader, make sure that themagnetic stripe on the card is facing the Lane/8000 displayscreen (see Swiping a Magnetic Stripe Card).Swipe the card at a faster or middle steady speed.Inspect the magnetic stripe on the card to make sure it is notscratched or badly worn.Security tag deactivation system could disturb the magneticcard readerTo determine if the problem is with the card :a. If your host device has a magnetic stripe reader, try swipingthe card there.b.
