Unfortunately, we are continuing to seeongoing occurrences of illness across our schooland community, and it is important to ensure thatwe are being vigilant with personal hygiene andreporting illness to the school as early as possible.A reminder that students who present to schoolunwell, or who become unwell during the day willbe sent home until their symptoms have subsided. This is an important part of our school operationsto ensure that we minimise the further spread ofany viruses.Quality Teaching RoundsEarlier this term, myself and Mrs Foley attended atwo-day conference in Sydney led by ProfessorJenny Gore from the University of Newcastle onQuality Teaching Rounds. QTR is a groundbreaking approach to teacher professionaldevelopment, with demonstrated impact on qualityof teaching, teacher morale and school culture. The implementation of round at Tullamore CentralSchool will see a group of four teachers observinga colleague’s lesson and providing feedback tofurther enhance their practice each term. Itempowers teachers to enrich student learningthrough a collaborative, teacher-driven frameworkthat enables participants to analyse and improvetheir practice. The approach is applicable acrossall subjects and year levels and builds theconfidence and capacity of teachers at all careerstages. Mrs Foley commented that the conference“acknowledged the complex work of teachers andwas all about building capacity in teachers todeliver high quality teaching and learning for allstudents”. Thank you to Mrs Foley for herleadership in this space. It was a privilege to speak on a Principal panel aspart of the conference about the importance ofTERM 2 2022– WEEK 7teacher quality and the provision of a inclusivelearning environment. This was an opportunity toshare with the audience of 250 educators some ofthe challenges faced in our rural and remotesettings, and the creative ways in which we workproactively as a school to overcome these with arange of programs, initiatives and individualisedlearning.Miss Brown and Miss Shankelton then attended atwo-day workshop in Dubbo on implementingQuality Teaching Rounds across the school andreported that this professional learning was highlyvaluable.
