November 17, 2014General Manager and staff hosted an open house for new donors to introducethe donors to KUNR’s on-air hosts and staff, give them a guided tour of thebroadcasting studios, promote public broadcasting and journalism careers,and answer questions.November 19, 2014General Manager and staff hosted a station studio tour for 13 students from aReynolds School of Journalism introductory broadcasting class.January 7 - 9, 2015General Manager, Membership & Marketing Coordinator and on-air host hadan information table informing attendees about public broadcasting,journalism and community involvement as co-sponsors of the 28th AnnualAll Reno Radio Blood Drive at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, Reno, NV.April 8, 2015 (morning and afternoon sessions)General Manager presented information about KUNR and public radio as asponsor of the Family Estate Planning Series: Wills, Probate, and Trusts,hosted by the Community Foundation of Western Nevada in Reno.April 25, 2015KUNR hosted a table of information at the local Earth Day event attended byan estimated 10,000 people.Established training programs designedto enable station personnel to acquireskills that could qualify them for higherlevel positions.KUNR is committed to the training, development, and advancement of allstation staff. The station provides ongoing training to broadcast staff toadvance digital editing, automation, troubleshooting, and newsgatheringskills.June-September, 2014KUNR continued the ongoing training and preparation of a journalismstudent, who worked part-time as an on-air host and produced on-airnewscasts and online web content, to prepare for broadcast industryemployment. The student graduated and was hired temporarily full-timebefore earning a permanent full-time role through the employment searchprocess.June 10 – 11, 2014News and broadcast team members took part in one-on-one radio voicecoaching and training conducted at the KUNR studios by a veteran broadcastand media talent consultant.June 20, 2014Morning host attended “FLOURISH: The Leadership Conference forWomen” at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, Reno, NV. Proceeds of theconference benefit the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada. June 24, 2014Administrative assistant completed UNR’s Human Resources’ HarassmentTraining to facilitate employee sensitivity as regards interpersonalrelationships and to also facilitate the understanding of the filing of grievanceprocedures.July 2014KUNR created an entry-level, part-time producer position, providing theopportunity for training and journalism skill development through which theincumbent became a regular contributor to the station’s news content.July-August 2014Broadcast and Content Coordinator participated in series of weekly webinarsover two months from NPR Digital Services on the new system for websitedevelopment.July 10, 2014General Manager and Underwriting Coordinator attended the Public MediaDevelopment & Marketing Conference 2014 in Denver, CO. Exposure tostrategies for inspiration, skill-building, and information-sharing centered onrevenue generation and digital innovation in all public media venues.including radio.July 24, 2014Station staff, supporters and the university provost participated in on-site,meet-and-greet luncheon for Jarl Mohn, the newly appointed president ofNPR, and his pilot on their first NPR radio station stop as they flew acrossAmerica stopping at selected NPR stations.November 18 - 21, 2014General Manager attended the 2014 Public Radio Super-Regional Meeting inLas Vegas, Nevada. Goal: To broaden and maintain KUNR’s beneficialconnections with other public radio stations throughout the United States, aswell as stay updated on a broad array of industry information such as stayingcurrent and viable in the digital age and programming survival strategies.January 7 - 30, 2015KUNR’s news and broadcast team and General Manager received weeklytraining and feedback, kicked off by on-site, one-on-one coaching from abroadcast and media talent consultant at the KUNR studios.
