We hope you willhave an extraordinary experience with our products and services.A word about the DEXIS CariVuDEXIS CariVu is a handheld device for caries detection used in conjunctionwith the DEXcapture software module (refer to the DEXcapture Softwaremanual). The DEXIS CariVu device is intended for use in dentistry only. Anyother type of use is prohibited. Proper use includes compliance with all instructions for use and inspection and maintenance intervals.Intended UseThe DEXIS CariVu is a diagnostic aid for the detection of open or incipientcarious lesions above the gingiva and for monitoring the progress of suchlesions.Indications: Detection of smooth surface cariesDetection of occlusal cariesDetection of proximal cariesDetection of initial cariesDetection of secondary cariesDetection of cracksContraindications for useUse of the device is limited as follows: Diagnosis is extremely limited by restorations (such as crowns)and very large fillings.Subgingival caries cannot be diagnosed.1

The device is your tool.As with all new clinical tools, it is necessary to invest a certain amount oftime for practice in order to become proficient with the device. Learn to useit well and it will become an effective aid.Please note that this manual assumes that new users possess basic computer skills and an understanding of the Windows operating system. Absent this experience, we highly recommend that you obtain these skillsthrough a computer course, video, or textbook. Your DEXIS representativemay be able to suggest (although not endorse) one or more of these computer learning resources.
