sampler basket with a small bodyscrub, body butter and mist.5. Offer your regular clients to bringa friend and both get the newclient discount.New client offers encourageclients to try out you and yourbusiness. It’s a great way to getclients in the door. Be sure to wowthem with excellent service, listening skills and follow up. It’s agood idea to let your existing clientstake advantage of your new clientoffer one time, so they don’t feel leftout or shorted. You may get a littleless money for one massage but

your clients will really appreciate itand it will build loyalty. Don’tdiscount your new client offer toomuch, add some extras to add valueand sweeten the deal. You want toattract clients that can afford youservices regularly.

Ideas for MonthlySpecials6. 30 minute massage with 30minute foot reflexology.7. 60 minute massage withsoothing back scrub & mudmask.8. 75 minute massage for the priceof 60.9. 30 minute “targeted massage”for neck and shoulders for asmall discount.10. 60 minute massage with drybrushing & herbal body wrap.

MonthlyPromotions TipsMonthly promotions give you areason to communicate with all ofyour clients on a regular basis. Theyalso give you something fresh andnew to promote each month, instead of discounting your regularprices.

Recommendations Monthly promotion can be assimple as a special essential oilblend or as big as launching awhole new line of bodytreatments. Short enhancement services, suchas a foot scrub, are easy toincorporate into monthlypromotions. Clients will love seeing what is*new* at your office. Incorporate a special (nonalcoholic) beverage or small takehome gift with your promotion.

Ideas to KeepClients Coming inRegularly11. Buy 5 massages get one free.12. Buy a 10 pack of massages with a 10- 15 discount on each one.13. Re-book today and get adiscount.

14. Give “points” for every dollarspent redeemable for services, products or discounts.15. Give spontaneous freebies likeenhancements, extra time orsmall take home gifts to regularclients.

Prepaid PackageTipsPrepaid massage session packagesin fact are money in the bank, butare you using them to your bestadvantage? Check out my pros andcons and learn how to make yours amoney maker instead of a hassle.Pros Cash up front. This is money youcan use to pay your monthlyexpenses, and budget for yourbusiness. This is especially true ifyou sell packages of 10 sessions. Clients who buy packages of 10sessions usually book regular or

standing appointments. Some prepaid clients are morelikely to purchase upgrades andretail. They aren't spending any"real" money when they come inso it doesn't feel like as much toupgrade. Prepaid services create clientloyalty! Sometimes it can feel likethere is a massage therapist onevery corner giving a discount. Ifyou have already paid for sessionssomewhere, that is YOURmassage therapist!Cons You will have times when there is

a lot of money coming in andtimes when it feels like you areworking for free. You will have tohave a budget and a plan! If for some reason it's not workingout with a client, you are kind ofstuck with them through the endof the package. Exception:extreme cases such asinappropriate behavior, then justsend a refund and out they go! People will try to push yourboundaries, they will wantrefunds, gift certificates and allkinds of exceptions made forthem! To me the advantages of

prepaid packages far outweighthe disadvantages. I prefer to givea bigger discount 10- 15 forpurchasing 10 sessions. This sellsbetter than a 5 discount in myarea. 5 is hardly worth worryingabout anymore, clients are lookingfor value.Avoid problems whenselling MassageSession packages, withthese tips.Massage service packages cangreatly enhance your business andincome. Packages reward andencourage clients to receive regularmassage, and provide steady

income for the massage therapist. When planning your packageprogram be sure to figure out yourpolicies and procedures to avoid anymisunderstandings with clients. Will you sell packages of 3, 5, 10 ormore massages? I prefer prepaidover buy 5 get a freebie. I thinkyou will see clients more regularlywith everything paid for up front. What tracking system will you useto keep up with massages usedand massages left to use. Willclients need to sign for eachsession? Will packages be “sharable” if so

with how many other people?Family only? Will you issue gift certificates onpackage massages? For exampleMrs. Smith would like to get herdaughter a gift certificate. Can sheuse up one of her prepaidservices? Will the sessions ever expire? What is your refund policy ifsomeone is moving away orchanges their mind? Will clients be able to use theirmassages on other services? Forexample a client would like to usea one hour massage on a hot

stone massage, will they pay thedifference between the regularprice and the hot stone or thebetween the package price andthe hot stone? What is your cancellation policyand will package massages beforfeited in the case of a no showor last-minute cancellation?

Ideas for GiftCertificatePromotions16. Buy 3 Gift Certificates and Get 1for yourself!17. Team up with an esthetician ornail tech to offer packages.18. Couples massage for Valentine’sDay, Wedding or Anniversarypresent with take home gift.19. “Sampler” package with a 30minute massage, 30 minutereflexology and a 30 minute“facial massage treat” (facialmassage and hydrating mask).20. “Day Package” with three 60

minute services (massage, reflexology, body scrub, wrap, orseveral enhancements) withlunch included to break up theservices.Gift CertificateMarketing TipsThink about who will be buying yourgift certificates and target yourmarketing to them. These are notnecessarily people who would get amassage themselves. Basically, gowhere the men go!Fact: Men buy massage and spagifts for the ladies in their lives.

Make a nice flyer and put iteverywhere you think the guys are.Hit the manly gym, hardware store, the barber shop, the firedepartment, you get my drift. Imake a mini-flyer and put iteverywhere!! An easy format is toget 4 copies per page then just getit cut at the printers. This is similar towhat I am talking about here in thisvideo about Rack Cards.

I also include this kind of flyer in aholiday card that I mail to all activeclients. Make your gift certificate pretty, and add some little extras. You could do a pretty gift bagcomplete with tissue paper and agift tag. Add a few chocolates anda small product or productsamples. You could provide a giftbox and let the gift giver pick acard to go with it. Hit the 1 store to stock up on yourwrapping supplies. This makes itsuper easy for people to buy fromyou and they will remember and

talk about your extras! Check out my 5 minute video onGift Certificate Packaging(password: bootcampgc) Sell online Massage GiftCertificates!! If you don’t, you aremissing out. Wouldn’t you love towake up in the morning and findout you made while you were

sleeping? I like Spaboom or GiftCard Cafe, but there are manygood services for this. Make sure you direct people toyour online store by having theinformation on your voice mailmessage, studio door, and all overyour website. Have something for every budget.I like to start in the 40- 50 rangefor kids buying for mom and thoseon a tight budget and go all the wayup to a 300- 400 “spa day”package. Include 4-5 options indifferent price ranges. The packagesin the middle will sell the best.
