STUDENT SPEAKERBraeden BeckCivil EngineeringBraeden Beck, grew up in Missoula, Montanagraduating from Loyola Sacred Heart HighSchool in 2018. He enjoys Butte because of thewonderful people in the community, as well as itsrich history and culture. Upon graduating, he willmove to Lincoln, Nebraska to start a career as atransportation engineer.COMMENCEMENT SPEAKERCasey Winn LozarChair, Montana Board of RegentsVice President and Director of the Centerfor Indian Country Development for theFederal ReserveMr. Lozar is vice president and director of theCenter for Indian Country Development forthe Federal Reserve based out of the FederalReserve Bank of Minneapolis. The Center is anational research and policy institute committedto assisting tribes across the country reach theirfull economic potential, on their own terms. Inthis role, he brings to life actionable research andpolicy development to advance economic andcommunity development in Indian Country with a focus on access to affordable capital, tribalpublic finance, and advancing economic infrastructure. In 2021, he served Indian Country as adetailee at the US Department of the Treasury, where he was responsible for distributing 20billion of American Rescue Plan Act funds to tribal governments to help mitigate the effects ofthe COVID-19 pandemic. Before leading the Center for Indian Country Development, he servedas the executive at the Helena Branch of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve.Prior to joining the Federal Reserve, Mr. Lozar served as an administrator and tribal policyadvisor for the State of Montana and directed the State Tribal Economic DevelopmentCommission. Additionally, he served Indian Country through national Native organizationsas vice president of the American Indian College Fund and chief marketing and developmentofficer at the Notah Begay III Foundation. Casey started his professional career as a middleschool Social Studies teacher and worked for Salish Kootenai College, helping to lead theirmath, science, and culture camps for Native youth.Mr. Lozar holds a B.A. in history from Dartmouth College, a M.Ed. from Harvard University,and an MBA from the University of Colorado-Denver. He has completed executive educationcoursework at MIT, Columbia University, and the University of California-Berkeley. Currently,16
Mr. Lozar serves as the chair of the Montana Board of Regents, the first Native American toserve in this capacity. Past board membership include: Montana Community Foundation, S&KTechnologies, S&K Electronics, and Montana Higher Education Student Assistance Corporation.Born and raised on the Flathead Indian Reservation in Montana, Mr. Lozar is an enrolledmember of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and a descendent of the Fort PeckAssiniboine and Sioux Tribes.
