RENTALSTANDARD CONTROLS6 m (20 ft) CONTAINER400V/50 Hz – 480V/60 HzCaterpillar utility paralleling controls are intendedfor automatic or manual paralleling with a utilitypower source as a load management system, with provisions for standby operation feeding anisolated load network. Load management operationinvolves microprocessor-based automatic loadingcontrols with soft loading, base load, Import/Exportcontrol and soft unloading. For Standby operation, the generator operates as an isochronous machineisolated from the utility supply. The controlsallow for automatic operation, initiated locallyor remotely by the customer’s SCADA system.Detailed modes of operation are listed below.3) After all plant load is returned to the utility, the customer run request is removedfrom the Power Module Generator plant.4) The generator mains are opened, and thePower Module Generators will run for theprogrammed cooldown time and then stop.5. The system is now in Automatic StandbyUtility Mode (Normal).3. Multi-Unit Island Generator Demand PriorityControl (Emergency Gen Demand)The System Controls will include a GeneratorDemand Priority Control function to automaticallymatch the on-line Power Module Generatorcapacity to the loads in order to avoid unnecessaryoperation of all the Power Module Generatorswhen the plant loads are low.SINGLE UNIT ISLAND AND MULTI-UNITISLAND OPERATION1. Utility Standby Mode (Normal)a. The utility is providing power for theplant loads.b. The Power Module Generator mainsare open.c. The automation is standing by to actin response to a utility failure. The following controls will be provided for eachPower Module Generator.a. User-settable Generator Priority Selectorb. Status indicator for the Generator Priorityselectedc. Status indicator for Power Module Generatoron-line or off-line.d. Generator Demand Priority Control Switch(On/Off)e. User-settable Generator Remove Level(% as a function of single generator capacity)f. User-settable Generator Remove Time Delayg. User-settable Generator Add Level (% asa function of single generator capacity)h. User-settable Generator Add Time Delay2. Emergency Mode (Emergency)a. Utility Failure (Enter Emergency)1) The customer protective relaying sensesa utility abnormal condition.2) A run request is sent to the PowerModule Generator plant.3) The first Power Module Generator up tovoltage and frequency is closed to the bus.4) In Multi-Unit Island Mode, the remainingPower Module Generators are synchronizedand paralleled to the bus as they come upto voltage and frequency. This function isperformed via the MODBUS Plus data linkconnected between the Power Modules.5) Plant load is transferred to the PowerModules, which will share load equallyvia MODBUS Plus data link.6) The system is now in Emergency Mode.Upon entrance into Emergency Mode, allgenerators will be started and paralleled tothe bus. After the Remove Time Delay, PowerModule Generators will be removed from thebus as a function of the generator percentageloading. Generators will be removed fromthe bus in descending priority order.Should the generator percentage loading increaseto the user-selected Generator Add Level after theuser-selected Generator Add Time Delay, the nextpriority generator will be started, synchronized andparalleled to the bus. Should the Power ModuleGenerator plant ever reach 100% loading, the nextpriority generator will be started and added to thebus, bypassing the Generator Add Time Delay.b. Utility Restoration Mode (Emergency Exit/Return to Normal)1) The customer protective relaying sensesthe utility conditions are within acceptablefunctional limits.2) Following the return to normal time delay, the plant load is transferred to the utility.LEHE6394-044

RENTALSINGLE UNIT IMPORT, EXPORTOR BASE LOAD OPERATIONDuring periods of peak demand the system maybe placed in operation using the PowerLynxoperator interface panel on the front of theparalleling control.GENERATOR SET EMCP 3.3LOCAL CONTROL PANEL Generator mounted EMCP 3.3 local control panel Provides MODBUS datalink to parallelingcontrol for monitoring of engine parameters Convenient service access for Caterpillar servicetools (not included) The Caterpillar EMCP 3.3 places fully featuredpower metering, protective relaying and engineand generator control and monitoring at yourfingertips. Integration with the CDVR provides enhancedsystem monitoring. Ability to view and reset diagnostics of allcontrols networked on J1939 datalink. Network modules via the control panel removesthe need for a separate service tool fortroubleshooting. Fully featured power metering, protectiverelaying, engine and generator parameterviewing, and expanded AC metering areall integrated into this controller. Fuel level monitoring and control Real-time clock allows for date and timestamping of diagnostics and events.1. Entry – Locala. The operator places the System ControlSwitch into Load Management on thePowerLynx operator interface panel.b. The operator selects Import, Export or BaseLoad Operation on the PowerLynx operatorinterface panel.c. The Load Management Setpoint is theamount of power Imported, Exported orBase-Loaded. A 4-12-20mA signal is providedby the customer and is linearly proportionalto the utility load, with 12mA equaling 0 ekW.The 4-12-20mA utility load signal is wiredto one and only one Power Module. If thePower Module selected for Load Managementis not available, the 4-12-20mA signal willbe wired to a different Power Module.d. The operator sets the Load ManagementSetpoint and Power Factor Setpoint.e. A Run request signal is received by theSingle Unit Power Module.f. The Power Module Generator is crankedand started and will run for a predeterminedwarm-up time before it is synchronized andparalleled to the utility.g. When the generator is on the bus, it issoft-ramp-loaded until the generator outputreaches the Load Management Setpoint.h. The generator output is dynamically adjustedto maintain the Load Management Setpoint.i. Should the utility fail during LoadManagement Operation, the ProtectiveRelay will cause the Paralleling CircuitBreaker 52G to open and be locked outuntil the Lockout Relay is manually resetby an operator on site. The generator isallowed to run for the duration of thecooldown time.EMCP 3.3 ENGINE OPERATOR INTERFACE Graphical display with positive image, transflective LCD, adjustable white backlight/contrast. Two LED status indicators (1 red, 1 amber). Three engine control keys and status indicators(Run/Auto/Stop). Lamp test key Alarm acknowledgement key. Display navigation keys Two shortcut keys: Engine Operating Parametersand Generator Operating Parameters.GENERATOR PARALLELING CONTROLSModes of operation are field configurableand include: Single unit island mode Multiple unit island mode- Includes Load Sense/ Load Demand control- Load sharing capability is provided vianetwork communication Single unit utility parallel mode- Selectable for Import/Export control- If import control is selected a 4-12-20mA signalis required and will be provided by othersthat is scalable to the utility contribution 6 inch black and white HMI touch screen2.
