A parallel co-op experience allows students to attend school and work in a major-related field at the same time. The term coop and internship are often interchangeable as defined by the employer., but there are still a few employers that continue to have a traditional co-op program.Fellowship: A major-related work experience for graduate students.Part-time/Full-time: Off-campus work experience that is typically not major-related.Intern: A UTEP student currently enrolled in at least one semester during the academic year working in a major-related work experience.Internship: Semester-long, supervised work experience related to a student’s major or career goal for which the student may or may not earn academiccredit. The work experience may be part-time or full-time, paid or unpaid, and primarily in an off-campus environment.
