Unlike a dog, cats prefer to be left with little to no attention tothem. Having this freedom causes a variety of reactions when your pet becomes stressed. You many have noticed that as their environmentchanges or as a stranger enters their environment your cat may act odd or run and hide in a familiar place and sometimes will find a newhiding place. The entire fumigation process beginning when you start to prepare your home may cause your pet to hide more, sometimesmaking them impossible to find prior to the home being fumigated. Sometimes the homeowner is so distracted in completing their preparationsthat they forget to remove their pet. The unfortunate ending is the loss of a loved one. Cal Coast Termite & Pest Inc. hopes to prevent thisfrom happening to your family and hope to remind you to remove your pet from the property during the entire fumigation process.* Even if you do not own a cat, you may have a neighbor whose pet roams the neighborhood. To help reduce the chances of their pet enteringthe structure during the fumigation process, we strongly recommend that you communicate your fumigation dates with your neighbors andclose off any opening to spaces that would allow domestic animal access, such as exterior sub area vents, access openings or additionalvents.**Cal Coast Termite & Pest Inc. utilizes chloropicrin (tear gas) as a warning agent and Vikane gas during every fumigation. The Vikane labelstates: “Remove from the structure to be fumigated all persons, domestic animals, pets (including fish) and desirable growing plants.” Cats arecapable of ignoring the extreme physical distress of chloropicrin exposure and will not leave their hiding place to alert a fumigator of theirpresence before the Vikane gas is introduced. The fumigator will make arrangements for the gas to be shutoff 48 hours in advance. Please arrange to have any gates unlocked and pets put away that would prevent the gas from being shut off. It is theresponsibility of the owner/occupant to restore the natural gas service to the structure. There must be someone at the property for thisappointment. The owner/occupant will need to provide the Gas Company with a “Notice To Re-Enter” we will leave this notice on the frontdoor. FUMIGATION NOTICE & DISCLAIMEREMERGENCY PHONE NUMBER (800) 683-77651.After reading this Notice, sign all copies, keep one for your Records, one copy for the Termite Company and one copy forthe Fumigation Crew.2.IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HOMEOWNER/OCCUPANT/AGENT TO HAVE ALL ITEMS ON THIS CHECKLIST DONE BEFORETHE CREW ARRIVES; FAILURE MAY POSTPONE THE FUMIGATION.3.Remove all people from the property to be fumigated. REMOVE VEHICLES FROM GARAGE/CARPORT, IF INCLUDED.4.Remove all interior and exterior plants, whether potted or hanging in/on building(s). OUR FUMIGATION CREWS WILL NOTMOVE HEAVY PLANTS AND/OR PLANTERS.5.Remove all pets (including fish and birds). Animals must be removed from the yard (cats included) the water in the fish tankdoes not have to be drained.6.Remove all mattresses enveloped in plastic covers such as baby mattresses, etc. or remove covers (this excludes waterbeds) open plastic zippered clothes bags.7.Bag all or remove all foods and medicines not sealed in glass or metal containers. This includes anything that might be orallyingested, such as candy and gum. It also includes food in freezers and refrigerators. In lieu of removal, these items may beplaced in Nylofume bags and sealed. IF WE MUST BAG FOODS OR MEDICATIONS THERE WILL BE A CHARGE OF 25.00 PERBAG. IF FOOD OR MEDICATIONS ARE THROWN AWAY CAL COAST TERMITE & PEST INC IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FORREPLACEMENT OF THE SPOILED FOOD OR MEDICINE. NOTE: The reason for removal or bagging of food items is the fact thatneither Vikane nor Methyl Bromide is registered for fumigation of prepared food.8.The occupant must soak the soil around the building at lease 12” from the foundation outward. This can be done theevening before. This may help protect the plant root growth.9.The occupant must turn off any air condition unit, thermostat operated or otherwise. If any burglar alarms are to be left on,leave instruction on operation; movement alarms must be turned off.10. We must have access to all areas within the structure, including rooms or garages, SO PLEASE MAKE KEY ARRANGEMENTSBEFORE THE DAY OF THE FUMIGATION. THIS IS REQUIRED BY LAW. Please indicate where the keys are to be left after thefumigation, if walk-in or large safes exist, you must be present to open same for our inspection before re-locking the safe.11. WE REQUEST THAT THE HOMEOWNER/OCCUPANT/AGENT REMOVE ANTENNAS WHERE POSSIBLE; IF WE MUST REMOVETHEM, WE WILL ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY ANTENNA DAMAGE OR ALIGNMENT.12. To ensure complete gas ventilation, the fumigator may sometimes have to open your drawers or cabinetwork and closets;you may wish to do this prior to the fumigator’s arrival.13. For insurance purposes, we request you remove and take with you any valuables you deem necessary, such as jewelry, fur,wet suits, mounted animal trophies, etc (See item F below)14. Where gas refrigerators exist, the occupant should allow for defrosting during fumigation, as all gas will be turned off.15. IN CASES WHERE PILOTS WILL NOT REMAIN LIT AFTER LIGHTING, OR WHERE THE HEATER, WATER HEATER OR OVEN AREOLD, AND SPECIAL EXPERTISE IS NEEDED IN LIGHTING, WE WILL REQUEST THAT YOU CONTACT THE GAS COMPANY TOCOME RELIGHT THE PILOT.16. ELECTRICITY MUST REMAIN ON OR JOB WILL BE CANCELED. RESCHEDULE FEE OF 75.00 WILL BE ADDED TO THE INVOICE.17. TERMS, CONDITIONS AND LIABILITIESA. Our crews must fumigate several structures in various locations each day. Therefore, any time of day for the fumigationto be scheduled will be an approximate time only. ALL APPROXIMATE TIMES SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE.B.We do not wish to inconvenience you by having you wait for our arrival on the day of the fumigation. When you decideon a date, talk it over with your termite inspector, make arrangements with regard to keys, and leave with theassurance that your building will be properly fumigated and will be safe for your return. IN CASE OF RAIN OR STRONGWINDS, THE JOB MAY HAVE TO BE POSTPONED TO A LATER DATE; BE SURE AND LEAVE AN EMERGENCY PHONENUMBER WHERE WE CAN REACH YOU. FORCIBLE ENTRY, IF NECESSARY, WHERE ALL KEYS ARE NOT LEFT, WILL RESULTIN DAMAGE AND THEREFORE THIS COMPANY WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS.C.Where climbing plants, fences, trellises and vines must be detached from the building, and thehomeowner/occupant/agent has not done this, any damage will not be our liability. Fences and gates must beunlocked and in working order. We will not be responsible for these items.D. Fumigations where masking tape is used (tape fumigation in lieu of tarp fumigation) and where the painted surface isold or oxidized will result in some peeling of paint. Some painted surfaces will chip or peel if the undercoating was notproperly applied even though these surfaces appear to be in good condition (the tape we will not peel paint that isproperly applied), therefore we assume no responsibility for any such damage.E.THE ROOF SURFACE AND PERIMETER AREAS OF THE BUILDING MUST BE WALKED UPON, AND DAMAGE WILL OCCUR.CAL COAST WILL NOT ASSUME LIABILITY FOR SUCH DAMAGE OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGE THAT WILL OCCUR TOROOFS OR ROOF COVERINGS AND AREAS BELOW SAME, GUTTERS, ELECTRICAL WIRING, PATIO AND AWNING COVERS,SOLAR HEATING PANELS OR RELATED PLUMBING, AND LIVING PLANTS OR LANDSCAPING AT/ADJACENT TO SUBJECTPROPERTY. TV antennas and/or Satellite dishes may be damaged or knocked out of alignment. Owner may choose toremove these items prior to fumigation, to avoid any damage. We will not be held responsible for these items.F.We do not provide on-site security during the fumigation procedure except as required by state or local ordinance anddoes not assume responsibility for care and custody of the property in case of vandalism, breaking or entering. Duringwhich time the possibility of burglary exists as it does any time you leave your home. Therefore, we recommend thatyou take any steps that you feel necessary to prevent any damage to your property. We also recommend that youcontact your insurance agent and verify that you have insurance coverage to protect against any loss, damage orvandalism to your property.G. All exterior doors (including water heater cabinet) to the building being fumigated must be able to be locked; if no haspor other lockable interior/exterior locking device exist, state law requires nailing these doors shut; if the homeowner orhis/her agent has not provided such locks, and nailing is then performed by the fumigation licensee, we will not assumeany liability for damage to the door or door jamb. Nailing or locking is required to keep out any person such as a smallchild from being accidentally trapped inside.H. Therefore, we recommend you take anysteps that you feel necessary to prevent this. WE DO NOT PROVIDE ON-SITESECRUITY DURING THE FUMIGATION PROCEDURE. Our insurance does not covermalicious vandalism or theft. Screened windows are left open and unlocked forfumigation ventilation of the building. We are not responsible for stolen ordamaged property, real or personal, due to an improper entry of the premises bythe homeowner, tenant or others during the fumigation. Also, we are notresponsible for personal or other items stolen or damaged due to burglary of thepremises during the fumigation.
