EVENMOREJOY2019 IMPACT REPORT

CELEBRATINGA JOYFUL20192019 was a year of unprecedentedgrowth and local impact for theDunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation.Join us as we look forward toan even more joyful 2020.

DEAR NEIGHBORS,In 2019 the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation experienced unprecedented growth. Together with Dunkin’franchisees, employees, vendors and guests, we raised more than 7 million, enabling us to significantlyincrease our support to local and community-based nonprofits that bring joy to kids battling hunger orillness. We expanded our partnerships with children’s hospitals around the country, giving 15 Dogs for Joy grantsto 12 premier hospitals to bring in full-time service dogs that bring joy to kids. We hosted a prom at BostonChildren’s Hospital for teen patients who may not have been able to attend their own prom due to illness, and we refurbished spaces in five hospitals to make them brighter and happier places for pediatric patients. In 2019, we also observed Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, using our voice and the power of theDunkin’ brand to shine a spotlight on and raise funds for an illness that affects millions.Since Dunkin’ restaurants live at the heart of neighborhoods across the country, our goal is to make a longlasting impact at the community level. We continued to reflect this in our grantmaking, working with Dunkin’franchisees and our local employees to identify the right programs to support in their backyards – frommusic therapy and in-hospital entertainment programs for pediatric patients, to BackPack programs andschool pantries, camps for kids with illnesses, nutrition education programs and many others. Looking backon 2019, we are proud of what we accomplished: we did all we could to bring joy to our grantees and thekids they serve, our guiding principle day after day.WITH JOY,Alex SmigelskiKaren RaskopfFranchiseeCo-Chair, Joy in Childhood FoundationChief Communications Officer, Dunkin’ BrandsCo-Chair, Joy in Childhood Foundation

BRINGINGJOY TO KIDSBATTLINGILLNESSWhen it comes to bringingjoy to kids, there is no singlesolution or one-size-fits all answer.Joy should be boundless, which iswhy we aim for BIG impact, takingour cues from the experts – kidsthemselves, their parents and thedoctors, nurses and hospital staffwho work with them every day.

MEET A FEWOF THE PUPSLocal ImpactWe partner with a range of organizations – from large children’s hospitalsto small community nonprofits – to ensure they’re equipped with as muchjoymaking power as possible. Every year we give grants to hundreds of localALIChildren’s Healthcareof Atlantanonprofits that bring joy to kids battling illness, and in 2019, we gave morethan 3.6 million to support a variety of programs, including 30 Child Life, art therapy, pet therapy and in-hospital entertainment programs for pediatricpatients; 15 camps for kids with illnesses; and many more joyful experiencesfor kids.Dogs for Joy: Placing Pawsitively Joyful Friends in Children’s HospitalsGALAXYChildren’s Hospital ColoradoAt the end of 2018 we announced Dogs for Joy, our 2 million program aimedat dramatically increasing the number of service dogs working full-time inchildren’s hospitals. In 2019, that announcement became reality: we madegrants to 12 premier children’s hospitals around the country to “hire”15 full-time service dogs. These dogs help keep kids calm during procedures, alleviate anxiety and stress, provide motivation to get out of bed for a walk,HALOChildren’s Hospital Coloradoand more. To help the hospitals welcome their new team members, we hostedpaw-ties at the hospitals, complete with donut decorating and arts and craftsfor the patients.Because the use of facility dogs is still an emerging therapeutic practice, wealso provided a three-year capacity grant to Canine Assistants, one of thelargest providers of service dogs for children’s hospitals, to help them meetDORIANGolisano Children’s Hospitalof Southeast Floridanew demands for dogs. We also provide support for an annual conference thatprovides learning opportunities for current and interested facility dog handlers.KIDCleveland Clinic Children’s

Prom Program: Providing Magical Experiences to Hospitalized TeensWhen it comes to fun, entertainment and joy, teens are an underserveddemographic in children’s hospitals. In 2019 we piloted a teen promprogram and hosted “Prom at the Park” for teen patients of BostonChildren’s Hospital at Fenway Park. Following the success of this firstprom, we provided grants to 17 children’s hospitals to host proms in2020 for kids who may not be able to attend their own prom.Prom at the Park guest Grace and her dateOUR PROM HOSPITAL PARTNERS Dana Farber Cancer Institute (BOSTON, MA) Tufts Medical Center Floating Hospital for Children(BOSTON, MA) Ann & Robert H. Creating Bright, Joyful Spaces in Children’s HospitalsBecause hospitals can sometimes feel scary and sterile, the Dunkin’ Joyin Childhood Foundation partnered with Starlight Children’s Foundationto refurbish hospital areas into bright, comforting spaces. These includewaiting rooms, teen lounges, therapy kitchens, playrooms, healinggardens and more. The Foundation has provided 18 hospitals withgrants for these updated spaces, and in 2019 we unveiled five of them, including rooms at Brigham & Women’s Hospital (Boston, MA); Children’sHealthcare of Atlanta (Atlanta, GA); Cleveland Clinic Children’s (Cleveland,Updated playroom at Moses H. Cone Memorial HospitalOH); Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt (Nashville, TN);Moses Cone Hospital (Greensboro, NC); and NYC Health Hospitals/Queens (Queens, NY).Building Awareness for Childhood CancerIn September 2019, for the first time, the Dunkin’ Joy in ChildhoodFoundation marked Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by partneringwith Waze. Throughout the month of September, Waze users wereable to download a Change Voice pack allowing them to receive voicenavigation from kids impacted by cancer. Created especially for Dunkin’,it featured the voices of both children with cancer as well as siblings.Downloads of the Change Voice Pack triggered a donation from Dunkin’to the Foundation, and the funds raised were used to send kids withcancer to 10 special camps around the country designed just for them.Recording of Waze “Going Gold” Change Voice packAnnual Impact Report 2019 Dunkin' Joy in Childhood Foundation 7
