DOC 1934FAbl1DEVICE WHICH TRIGGERS JI d-VOLT frULSE GENEHAICRL.P. Pekar' (inventor)Submitted by Khar'kov [Cider ct Lauin] Pclytechnical Institute. This is an invention in the field of high-volt pulsed voltageand current generators.Ve are familiar with a device designed tc trigger a high-voltpulse generator. It cotisists of spark dischargers, a resistivevoltage divider, charging and switching capacitors and additionalcapacitors connected tc a aus s hitched through a resistor to one leadof the storage capacitor. The time required tc trigger the generator.however, depends on the magnitude of the voltage applied to it.The object of this invention is to increase reaction timeindependently of the vcitage vhuca is appliedej

DOC 1934FAGIThe object is achieved as toilows: 'The bus of this device isswitched to a second lead of rthe unaarging capacitor through theswitching capacitor and tzigatrcu. A circuit consisting ofseries-connected protective resistcr and additicaal high-voltagesource are connected in pFiralilal to the trigatron. The scheme is shown i.n tne ti ure.Between electrodes 1 spazx jajs 2 are formed. These are shuntedby high-ohmic resistcrs 3 and interelectrodetarasitic capacitors'4.outer electrodes I ar6 connected (one through resistor 5 of theload and the other directl)to the charging capacitor 6, which ischarged through protective zesistoL 7 froe regulated high-voltagesource 8, Load resistor 5 is sanzted by parasitic capacitor S.Additional capacitors 10, whzose ccamon ccnnectica pcint is connectedto trigatron 12 through igniting cdpacitcr 11 and through resistor 13to the lead of charging capaci.tor 6, are switched to electrodes 1.from additional source 1d4 unregulated high vcItage, equal inamplitude to the nominal charge voltage of capacitor 6, is conductedthrough resistor 15 to igniting cajacitor 11.The trigatron is started ay means of gierator 16. The followingcondition most be observed:

DOC. 19341F kwhere C. is the capacitanca vaiu6 cf capacitor 6: C&igniting capacitcr 11; CIO--value ofvalue of alditional capacitors 10, C,6-value of parasitic intexelactzoae capacitance 54.Charging voltage Us com scurce 8 applied to electrodes 1 isdistributed evenly between siarx gaps 2. The common point ofconnection of additional cap acitors 10 through resistor 13 receivesthe potential from the lead at left electrode 1. Igniting cafaciter11, which is connected tc oaditial scurce14, is charged to avoltage ofwhere U,is the nominal vcltaqGoL source 1*4.For triggering ef the device the pulse from genercator 16 issupplied to triqatron 1,&, After tars breakdeocf trigatroa 12 thedifference in potentials between tap common pcist of cosaecticn ofthe additional capacitcra 10 and 16ft electrede 1 increases to OIL * Usregardless of the magnitudle at tae charge voltage of generatingcapacitor 6. Since CIO C., almost all of the voltage which develops*between left electrode 1 and the common point of attachment of
