TVQG’s Tilikum Lodge Friendship Quilt RetreatSewing the Seeds of Fun!Thursday, April 23, 3:00 p.m. to Sunday, April 26, 1:00 p.m.This will be TVQG’s twelfth year hosting a retreat at the Tilikum Lodge.This four-day retreat starts Thursday, April 23, 2020, and continues through Sunday, April 26, 2020,and will be held at the Tilikum Lodge in nearby Newberg, OR.The cost to attend this all-inclusive retreat is based on double occupancy and is 265per person for Thursday through Sunday. A limited number of single rooms are availablefor a one-time extra charge of 54 for the duration of your stay.The Tilikum retreat includes dinner on Thursday, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on bothFriday and Saturday and lovely Sunday brunch. Special dietary restrictions are fullyaccommodated. Complimentary coffee, an assortment of teas, and hot cocoa are available24-hours a day in the centrally located main dining room.Sewing rooms are in the same building, just a few steps away from your room, and arealways remain open and available. So whether you are an early bird or a night owl, you’llhave access to your sewing machine and projects whenever you want.The Tilikum lodge has walking trails by a secluded wooded lake, a hot tub, plenty ofparking, and free Wi-Fi service. This year’s activities will include, our always fun-filledSaturday evening gift exchange, our popular Quilting Swap Table, and our never-endingsnack tables, along with other planned daily activities.If interested in attending, please complete the attached registration form. Friendship Retreat General InformationThis is a TVQG sponsored retreat. However, you do not have to be a guild member to attend. Quilters and theirfriends of all ages and experience levels are invited.Location:Tilikum Retreat Center15321 NE North Valley RoadNewberg, From Sherwood – traveling south on 99W, in Newberg turn northat Hwy 240 (Chehalem Valley/Yamhill sign). Follow Hwy 240 for 5miles. Turn right (north) onto Ribbon Ridge Road (a TilikumRetreat Center sign is on your left). After 1 mile, bear left at thejunction, onto North Valley Road. Approximately 1 mile, on yourright – look for the Tilikum sign and driveway.Retreat Cost and Dates:The cost for lodging and meals for Thursday through Sunday is 265 00 per person. Price is based on double occupancy. Alimited number of single rooms are available on a first-reservedbasis for an additional 54 for the duration of your stay.Check-in:Check-in will be on the top floor just inside the main entry. Roomassignments will be given at the time of check-in. Check-in isanytime after 3:00 pm.General Information: Because we are a larger group, we’ll be sewing bothupstairs and downstairs. Please let our retreatcoordinator know if you can't maneuver stairs.Handicapped parking is available.Cell phone service is spotty, but Tilikum does have alandline available on the 1st floor sWi-Fi is available for your smartphones, tablets, laptopsor similar devices; please check any of the Tilikum officestaff for the Wi-Fi access password.Ironing boards, irons, and large size cutting tables will beset up for everyone to use.What to Bring: Your own linens and towels. Some of the beds are twinextra-long so plan accordingly. Regular twin sheets don’tquite fit, but twin extra-long sheets will fit all beds.Walking shoes if you’d like to walk the trails around thelake.Swimsuit and towel if you will be using the hot tubQuilting stuff and related supplies (sewing machine,scissors, UFO’s, cutting tools, etc.)An extension cord or a power strip with your name on itPersonal toiletries Food: The retreat center will provide dinner on Thursdayevening, breakfast, lunch, and dinner both Friday andSaturday and a lovely brunch on Sunday. There is alwayscoffee, tea, hot cocoa, water and ice available in thedining room.A small fridge is available for our use.Tilikum has soda available at 50 a can (not sure whattheir selection is) but they welcome your bringing in yourown soda, water or juice.We'll have a community snack table set up in thehallways both upstairs and downstairs. We would love itif you bring in a snack to share!The folks at Tilikum are very familiar withaccommodating dietary needs or requests. If you haveany special dietary needs please make sure to completethe Medical Diet Request form that is included in yourreservation packet.Attendees are encouraged to bring a snack item to shareat our never-ending snack tablesGift Exchange:On Saturday night we will be doing a Gift Exchange. Ifyou would like to participate, please bring in a wrappedgift, something that you would want to receive. Pleaselimit your gift to about a 15 to 20 value. We have a fungame planned for distributing gifts that will involveswapping and trading gifts. This is a fun activity and weencourage everyone to participate.Massages:We are working to coordinate a massage therapist whowill be with us to provide chair massages. We’ll send outadditional information about massage day and timeswhen it becomes available. Note: Massages are anadditional cost and fees are paid directly to themasseuse.Activities and Presenters:If you have a quilting related activity or tip, technique,special pattern design, or something similar that youwould like to present to the group, we would love tohave you share it with us. Medical Diet Request FormTo be completed by the Guest, not group coordinatorWe are excited that you are coming! We are able to accommodate most medical dietary needs when given prior notification. Tilikum prepares family-style meals rather than individual plates. We will make you an individual meal with the specifications listed below to the best of our abilities. Menu is chef’s choicebased on seasonal availability. Tilikum charges an additional 1 per meal per person for medical diet requests due to higher costs. We are not a dedicated facility and process all types of foods in the same kitchen, including scratch-made breads daily. If you bring foods, you may keep these items in our guest mini-refrigerator or bring your own ice chest and we’ll supply youwith ice. There is a guest microwave and toaster oven in the dining room. All guests assume personal responsibility for their dietary needs and communication of those needs.
